The drums section, called "Bateria" in Portuguese, is also one of the best well known and is called "Medalha de Ouro", which could somehow be translated as "Golden Locket or Golden Medal", because of the several prizes they have won along with their parades and number of great samba drums master they formed. In essence, what we see is a very good example of what a samba-rehearsal in Rio de Janeiro Carnival would look like.
The best time to join these rehearsals is from mid-November through February, when all of the samba-schools get packed and energized.

Both are sensual, both are very expressive & help too to "heat up couples" . Here in Brazil we have the worlds 2nd largest Arab community. We love it, specially after we made that famous soap opera "The Clone". Now back to the dance, this is really the true Samba dance, and not the one some Americans want to present as if they invented!! Pure energy!!

Hello, yes I can. There are 3 or 4 samba-schools very respected in UK by Brazilian samba and Carnival experts. First is the London School of Samba, with great teachers, and a strong percussion section...There is also "Paraiso Samba Schoo"l. In Manchester, there is also a very good one called Manchester School of Samba, located at Sacred Trinity Church, Chapel Street Salford , LAN, M3 5DW. You can find it easily on the web,.
