The timing given in the ISTD technique book is 123, but the actual beat values are 3/4 1/2 3/4 so you would count it like this: One and A Two And A. The timing demonstrated in this video is for figures such as Basic Movement, Whisk, Boto Fogos etc (3/4 1/4 1 or One a 2)

he has good and natural hip movemnts, but she uses her hips in an isolated way. The hips remind me much the Hagalla Step in North African dance ;-)

Nice posture. I think the usual timing is 1-2-3 (all the same duration) on 2 beats of the rhythm (1 measure)

Hi Brian, yes we dance and teach it with the 1-2-3 rhythm too. However, technically you could do 1 a 2 rhythm, it's just not in style at this moment at least.

Yes, this is commonly how it is taught, but 1-2-3 would suggest a time value of 1/2 1/2 1 which is incorrect according to the technique book which is 3/4 1/2 3/4. It's difficult to understand unless you are a musician and understand time signatures.

It is also possible to do these CPP/PP Runs in "volta" timing, that is, 1a2, 3a4, instead of 1 and 2, 3 and 4?

It is possible, it's just not popular right now.

Yes. Compared to the 123, 456 (or 1 and 2, 3 and 4 - 3/4, 1/2, 3/4 timing) doing your PP/CPP runs in 1a 2, 3a 4 timing changes the character of the runs slightly. The side step during the 'a' time is both reduced in step size and elevated in position, giving your run a wavy look (down up down).
