Cheers Pete getting back to the basics of sign reading 👍 it’s where it starts

Hi Matt, sign is a great indicator. But the temptation is to spend too much time looking at and for sign instead of looking for the deer.

I bloody love your videos Peter. Gradually over time I’ve stepped back from really analysing the area and focus on deer. As a result the amount of spooked animals increased 10 fold. Even though you know, sometimes hearing it is important. The penny has dropped and I will be back into the sign finding and analysing rubs wallows and surrounds

Nathan, the trick is to keep our nose out of the ground and see them first. Thank you for the compliment and good hunting.

Love your passion and knowledge Peter met you back in 06 at the Rawson Course and I’m still learning stuff off ya! 👍😀

The Victorian ADA hunter education course, that started at Rawson and still continues, has certainly helped a lot of deer hunters on their journey. Now 06 was a long time ago. I think I had more hair then! Regards and good hunting.

Pete I really enjoy your informative videos could you maybe do one on what’s the best sambar caller and how to use them😊
@SambarHuntersEdge-lf2qq
@SambarHuntersEdge-lf2qq Ай бұрын
Hi Jetty, my experience with callers is limited and I do not try to call sambar but use them as a tool to try and hold them when they bark at me. Or to keep them calling. I don't believe I have sufficient experience to do an instructional video. Regards Peter.

Great vid, thanks mate. Have you figured out any sort of strategy for finding cast antlers? Or do you just get lucky every now and then and come across them?
@SambarHuntersEdge-lf2qq
@SambarHuntersEdge-lf2qq 2 ай бұрын
Hi Gavin. How I love those words: get lucky. I have a reasonable collection of cast antlers, although I don't specifically search for them. I think, for me it is due to two reasons. When I'm walking in the bush I am always looking ahead and planning where I will walk and paying close attention to the ground cover. This along with the ability to recognize portions of an antler at a glance combined with luck, is my technique.

Rob calling me a legend has become the subject of good-hearted banter between us. I have reminded Rob that a legend can be a myth with no basis in fact or a fable.

Hey I got a 700 acer bush block I hunt private of course I would be more tnen happy yo share it with you if you gave me some tips as I been trying to find a massive stag fir ages and cant😊
@SambarHuntersEdge-lf2qq
@SambarHuntersEdge-lf2qq 2 ай бұрын
Now Flex, that is a very tempting offer but...... The quest for a massive stag is a bit like the dream to win tatsloto. But unlike tatsloto, dedication, perseverance and a bit of luck will eventually lead to the prize. The focus as I said in the video is; I know you are here; I am going to find you! Then one needs some luck and to shoot true and straight. You can always pm me via facebook. Although I am sometimes out of reach for long periods. No internet coverage in the mountains.

How ya going peter onother good informative video we never stop learning interesting on subject on antler rubbing where i myself have taking not so mature stags that hav rubbed out like that can only wonder very sexually active that year 😊 therefor maybe leaving bigger stags very dominant and less to fight for thanxs for putting video together more work than hunting alone . 😂 Rosco
@SambarHuntersEdge-lf2qq
@SambarHuntersEdge-lf2qq 2 ай бұрын
Good, thanks Rosco. Mike Harrison who ran the ADA Bunyip Sambar study pen, put the excessive rubbing by subordinate stags down to frustration. I didn't mention it in the video; it's not always the stag with the biggest antlers that is dominant. It is the meanest and toughest on the block. Regards Peter
