Constant referee stoppages make it so hard to watch. I understand when they go out of bounds, but why so many stoppages from valid grounded positions? let the athletes continue into a joint lock or pin. The sport should be more popular and key details like this hold it back from being enjoyed by a greater crowd.

Combat sambo is like what you say plus striking. This here sport sambo is basically old school judo, aka with leg grab takedowns as well. The rules are those of wrestling, so the emphasis should be on the takedown, otherwise it can become like bjj where the takedown is not a part anymore, here they want to preserve the art of traditional judo

@@lorenzoloviselli1900 i understand. i think if they were allowed to continue on the ground like in folkstyle wrestling, the sport would be more enjoyable to a larger audience. at present, the only individuals i know who watch sambo are practitioners of judo, jujitsu, or wrestling. expanding the influence of the sport should be the goal of FIAS but constant stoppages prevent it from being expanded.

Having competed myself, refs vary on their permissiveness of groundwork...though most will allow continuous groundwork IF it is dynamic/constant motion. Any stop in action that isn't mid-pin or submission will result in a standup.
