Anyone ever use portal axles on mud trucks? I reckon the extra clearance would help with keeping the diffs from digging in, standard diffs seem to be a real hindrance, any thoughts?

Same. Is always the same thing with them, they either break or can't generate enough wheel speed to accomplish anything impressive, and they sound like shit doing it. Still gotta do a bunch of fab work, gotta buy the axles and wheels and tires... why not put them under something that might actually be worth a shit.

How can people pay 30 grand for a side by side then put another what 10 to 20 k in upgrades ,that's more then I paid for my Duramax that I commute to work in .
