@@AFONOKOTEK What a pointless reply. Just like your original comment. The least likely person on the planet to get an ugly tattoo, is a pro artist with lot of money. Even if they don't have any money, no way a person like that would allow anything but top quality to be tattooed on their skin. They understand everything about composition, color, proportions, style.. and have considered which one to get probably for years, with much more critical eye than normal people. Your original compliment is equivalent of telling Miss Universum that she's pretty
@AFONOKOTEK4 ай бұрын
@@shredd5705 Do you ever go outside.. like all i did was compliment the tattoo lmfao?? 😂 If a person is pretty in my eyes, I can tell them they're pretty, even if it's obvious they're in fact.. pretty. idk what you're on Edit: Ps, he commented on the tattoo in the video, I'll naturally say something about it too since I like the tattoo, you don't have to point out the very obvious multiple times about him being a top artist with money over me saying the tattoo looks cool .. 🙃do you usually do this when anybody compliments anything? I wish Sam would add two more things to this amazing tutorial: 1) the transition from light to shadow is one of primary places where you can show the texture of the material in question (the other being specular highlights) 2) the same transition from light to shadow is also the important spot where one can put a lot of vibrant colors - be it due to subsurface scattering or light falloff

For anyone curious as to why some shadows are hard and some soft. It is because there are 2 different types of shadows, form shadows (soft) and cast shadows (hard). Not always razor sharp or really soft, depends on lighting ofc. But good to know as a rule of thumb. Search it up if you want to dive deeper, really interesting stuff imo. Anyways great video as always sam!

Id also say that another important aspect for getting the right colors is to have the background be the same as it is in the reference, or at least a neutral tone. Colors are perceived in terms of relations to one another, so it could help make sure the colors are correct

I love this style of tutorial that leads the viewer to finding their own solutions, instead of just saying "do this and this and that" and basically teaching people how to draw on the teacher's style. I also like that it's comprehensive enough for any artist to add steps as they see needed, it really just teaches the technique for color-blocking and defining edges. If you're a rim-light guy, you can do this and rim-lights. If you're a hyperpop guy, you can your pick crazy colors and lay them out this same way. If you draw animals instead of people, technique stays the same. Sam being the 🐐 as always
