Same stitch, same blanket. Which yarn gave me the better ombre? BEST OMBRE YARN (Both Affordable!)

I think the Caron yarn makes it seems like it works up fairly quick too!

Great video! I bought the Caron Ombré during the winter to make a blanket for a special aunt. While the finished product was very pretty, it was not the ombré I wanted. The next blanket I make will be a stitch along with Mikey using the Red Heart Ombré. I will be making it for the color factor and hope that I can soften it a little when finished. I wish someone would make a true ombré, soft and reasonably priced? Some people are never satisfied, Ha Ha.

They both are absolutely beautiful, buuut the teal is hands down my favorite. I’ve noticed red heart does soften up after washing. Great deal on the Caron Jumbo yarn! Thank you for sharing!☺️

Here’s the tutorial I used to learn the pattern from! The only thing I did differently is that I only used the ombré yarn instead of switching colors. I can’t remember if she flips hers over in her video or not…… but I did not. I just kept going around on the same side! The first couple rows I had to pay attention to but after that, it’s one of those that you can kind of do on autopilot! Let me know if you end up making one please!

I absolutely love that teal. I agree that price does drive my decision when I buy yarn but it's hard to find a great teal ombre. Both are beautiful and the pattern is gorgeous. Thanks for comparing both.

You’re welcome Denise! I will admit that this pattern is so easy! It’s only double crochet, chains and slip stitches. I think that using the ombré yarn just makes it look like it’s more detailed than it actually is 😃

Excellent review! I had looked at the Caron ombre online but wasn't ready to commit. I love their One Pound, so this will go on my wish list. 😊. With the holiday sales, I bought some of the Red Heart Ombre to try out, but was shocked at how scratchy it is - even more than the normal Super Saver. I guess it has to do with the way they dye it. I'm going to have to track down that shells blanket pattern! It's beautiful! I really appreciate your review and think it's very thorough. 😊

My tutorials are still pretty basic and a little rough! But the video I learned the technique from is called Shell Stitch in the Round by Play Hooky with Me. I have her video included in my playlist called Crochet Tutorial I’ve Tried and Loved. She used multiple yarns and I didn’t, that’s the only difference. You can just crochet away until it’s whatever size you want!

These blankets are beautiful and have inspired me to make one. I fell in love with the Caron sepia color and I go some to make myself one. Perfect timing as the yarn is on sale. I do have a question, what size hook did you use? I am using the recommended hook and my stitches are not as open as yours.

You will love it, sepia is such a beautiful colorway!!!! I believe I used a 5.5 MM crochet hook. My tension may have been kind of loose too….❤️ hope this helps! 😃
