This was a super interesting video! One thing I’ll say is the LCS is many things but one thing it obviously isn’t….is stealthy. Which is a shame because trying to make it stealthy was like the main design objective. This thing is an example of bureaucracy/design by committee. I’m sure it started stealthy but then the safety committee decided it needed those big unstealthy guardrails for example….just looking at the ship, you can tell it’s not stealthy. Maybe against some old Soviet radar it might help, but we’re long past that now. Not criticizing the sailors, they’re fantastic, just the people in the pentagon who mismanaged this program

I hate the LCS ships with a passion. I'm a sonar technician, the sonar module on LCS ships failed. However, the Navy kept sending them sonar technicians. During that time they never went underway, they would just stand permanent three section duty watches and deck maintenance. I know a lot of really good people who got out because they never got to do their job, had their promotions stymied, Amber basically completely disregarded. Now our rate is undermanned because so many people got out.

The Hulls can't handle waves due to the aluminum used in construction. You read that correctly, the DEI navy built a ship that can not handle waves. The hulls were bending and the welds were cracking from what other heavier ships classified as light waves. They can not survive a single hit from an enemy bomb or missile without sinking. Aluminum is acceptable in airplanes because they have to fly but the worst choice for the hull of a Navy vessel.
