Nathaniel Hawthorne
Birth - Nathaniel Hawthorne was born on July 4, 1804, in Salem, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
His Parents - His father (Nathaniel Hathorne) was a sea captain and a member of the East India Marine Society. He died in 1808 of yellow fever in Suriname, leaving a widow (Elizabeth Clark Hathorne) and three young children. Nathaniel was only four when his father died.
Occupation - 19th Century, An American novelist and short story writer. His works often focus on history, morality, and religion. Apart from novels and short stories, he also wrote a biography of his classmate and friend, Franklin Pierce.
Spouse - Sophia Peabody (m. 1842)
Children - Julian Hawthorne, Rose Hawthorne, Una Hawthorne
Death - May 19, 1864, Plymouth, New Hampshire, United States.
