I was going to say the same thing. She is absolutely smitten with Sam - highlighting him in all of her own videos. Sam plays it cool because he doesn't NEED to pick one (he is legend like Kurt Caz). This was an easy choice because it would be soo hard to improve on the total package. She doesn't have any faults that need addressing. Refreshing, really. He loves wind, she loves water. Eh, whatever. He says he has to meet her in 15 days. If it takes 19 days she'll be there.

I have been following sailing channels for years now. Sam Holmes, you channel and content is far above of the others all wrapped into one. The host of Chasing Latitudes calls you a "Rock Star" of the sailing channels and I could not agree more. What you do makes a difference in my life. I have been living vicariously through you and as I refit my boat, you give me hope when it feels I will never make it out there due my increasing heath issues. So thank you Sam, you are touching peoples lives by just keeping it real, don't ever lose that, it's what separates you from the rest IMO, and your very lovely girlfriend, Eileen (sp?) is also awesome, love her channel too! Safe travels, Sam and Eileen too!

It’s not just sailing channels that have succumbed to the AG1 bullshit. What a rip off the supplement is. Erik Aandeera hasn’t taken the bait either and as for the Wind Hippie I can’t see her ever doing it. Erik has gone a bit overboard with gizmos but considering the type of sailing he does and the nearly catastrophic crash he had I’ll forgive him. All of them provide great KZbin content though.

Diapers are also quite useful. They are available everywhere. I used the cloth variety whenever it was just seawater and the disposable ones whenever soaking up oil, diesel or sewage. A cheap old-style mop handle with just a spring clamp on the end is great for pushing them back in behind the engine or down the bilge. The cloth ones are a little more expensive but you can re-use them for a long time. The disposable ones cost about $0.30 a piece. But they are just so damn handy at soaking up oil and diesel spills and you just tie them up in a plastic bag and dispose of them next time you're on shore. Most marinas have a collection facility for oil cans and grease filled rags. Just drop them off there with your old filters and such.

Lots of fishingvessels without AIS (and also NO NAVLIGHTS!!) on the coast of Marocco too, but I'm sure you'll find that out yourself eventually:) don't let anyone know you have a drone in Marocco unless you want to sign 100 forms haha! Also, I did the atlantic crossing last year from Cape Verde in the beginning of november, great conditions. Seemed fine earlier also, I think it's ok as long as you can get a few weatherupdates underway. Just divert south if stuff starts rotating, worst case you end up in Suriname heh

Vinegar is your friend. It's remarkably cheap. Cleans glass and surfaces. Kills mold. Add a cup to a bucket of water and poor down the bilge for odors. A spray bottle with 50/50 Vinegar and Water and a teaspoon of dish detergent basically make 409 brand de-greaser. I used to use a pump up spray bottle, HDX Model 56HDX, 56oz hand pump spray bottle from Home Depot about $9. I'd use 50/50 or 25/75 vinegar and water (no detergent) to spray off my dishes as a final rinse when living aboard. Helps to sanitize dishes washed in seawater. Pick up a couple of gallon jugs and some cheap spray bottles the next time you're shopping.

Cleaning vinegar (10%) or salad (3%)?
@robertanderson69293 ай бұрын
@@dooleyfussle8634 I actually use a lot of vinegar. I use the cheap grocery brand cleaning for well cleaning. I use the Plain White (non-cleaning) vinegar, I think it is 5% for pickling onion, eggs, jalapenos, asparagus and wide variety of other vegetables. One could pickle herring too but I've never done it. I always have a pint jar of pickled red onion in the fridge. Once you have them on a burger you'll never on go back to plain raw ones. I keep mine in the fridge but the beauty of pickling is it keeps foods fresh without refrigeration for months. Great on passages. But the rings will rust due to the salt air. So you do need eat them within weeks. But it requires no special equipment to pickle so you can reuse your jars and just use fresh lids and rings to pickle more fresh vegetables while traveling.

I don't think that matters on a 28 foot Cape Dory with its full keel. 40 gallons of water weighs 280 pounds about the weight of one fat man. May have to consider the weight of the water tank that far aft close to the starboard transom. Water is 8lbs per gallon. I have an 8 gallon tank in that spot on my Macgregor 25 and it dropped me an inch in the starboard aft.
@leecowell81653 ай бұрын
7 pounds, Salt water is 8 pounds. That's not a concern this a 28 foot boat with a full keel. Does a Macgregor sport a full keel? No it has a drop down centerboard keel not even close to a full ballasted keel. The Cape Dory also sports a huge highly protected rudder that is keel mounted.. not transom mounted like your boat.
