The Baby is my favorite 2020 record along with Phoebe Bridgers Punisher. Such a good album, full of evocative lyricism and captivating soundscape (i mean Pool, Does Not Heal, Minnesota, Stellate...)

The fact that she's not wearing much makeup really adds a special vibe to the video... it feels more real, more intimate and relatable. I love the uniqueness of her videos. They're a work of art compared to most mainstream stuff.

The progression of this song is simply stunning building and de escalating perfectly. That married with the Lyricism and delivery of vocal is outstanding. I love most music but Artists like Samia truly bring that personable feeling of what made and makes music a true art and it’s songs and artists like this that really connect with your soul.

[Verse 1] Keeping you awake, keeping you awake on purpose Hey, did I make a mistake and do my mistakes worsen I would give it up to every man I love I take what I can get And every woman too, I would too, that's my only secret [Pre-Chorus] I would entertain your feet or your hands for a triptych Sell me at the Strand on the stands for a fat brick I get what I want, and your girlfriend too Make a predator of me [Chorus] I'll be good to you [Verse 2] So before I turn it off, light at my bed stand Ask me what I thought of the life that I led and I'll take off your pants, say goodnight to the ears there Put you where I sing in the light in the damp air [Chorus] And I'll be good to you I'll be good to you [Instrumental Break] [Verse 3] I'm the moving mouth, moving mouth with my eyes closed Breathing an excuse, breathing loose with my new nose I will buy a round on your dime like I used to Feeding you my cake, you my cake, eating it too [Chorus] I'll be good to you I'll be good to you

it's art. analyze it, and whatever it means to you is what it means. that's what is so good, but also sucks about art :)

The song itself is inspired by the story behind Francis Bacon's famous triptychs. Bacon had a lover who dealt with hard drugs addiction and other mental health issues. In the Black Triptychs he's painted in his final moments, as he overdosed in a hotel room that was paid by Bacon himself. Samia told in an interview that she read the story after a tough breakup she had been through and felt like, maybe she's getting herself into dicey situations just so she'd "justify her big feelings and write about them". And it's a good question for artists, how often should they check up to see whether they are living life how it is and getting inspired by it, or maybe they make choices in life motivated by the seek for inspiration? Samia often writes about less-talked-about unique topics, which are also can be relatable, and I like it a lot.
