This hit close to home for me too. I lost my dad to cancer on Thanksgiving of 2021. So I can definitely relate and feel for you, but am happy that you have a woman that is so supportive and let’s you be vulnerable and y’all are a team. I reconnected with someone who ended up being the love of my life and the best thing that has ever happened to me right after losing my dad. I am beyond thankful to God for bringing him into my life. I will always try to keep my dad’s memory alive but remember that he would want me to move forward in life and be happy.

Okay, i never cried so much with a song. I fell into it with a parachute and went to find out more about the singer and stopped at this video. I lost my father 4 years ago and one of the things that kept me going the most was my dog, so when I saw yours doing everything to "calm down" the situation, I remembered mine, who died almost 1 year after my father. I know they are in a better place now, and so is Sam's father, but the nostalgia always comes ❤

Hey guys I loved this song Jess you did a great job. And the fact that you made this for Sam is so beautiful and kind of you. I also have things going right now with my family. My dad has cancer and we found out right before Thanksgiving. And unfortunately it's a very aggressive cancer. My dad can't have any surgery bcuz he's at high risk of dying on the table much sooner bcuz he's had very weak lungs for a very long time. The tumor has spread rapidly and also tightened up his esophagus. They tried putting a Stent down his throat it's a device that would've opened up his esophagus more but the cancer spread so fast that it closed it up again and they had to redo the procedure but he can't have any solid foods so he's lost a huge amount of weight/fat. Chemo and radiation would only give him more time with us it wouldn't cure him and he's decided he doesn't want to do the chemo and radiation. Before all of this he's had a broken left arm since 2018. And again they couldn't do surgery bcuz of how weak his lungs were. So he'd already been dealing with that. He hasn't been able to really go anywhere mostly cuz he's scared/anxiety but luckily last Christmas we were able to rent out a beach house bcuz his favorite place is the beach and he always wanted to rent out a beach house and luckily we were able to get him to go. Which was awesome. When he broke his arm we were told he would die soon and we almost lost him a few times. He really has 9 lives but looks like this cancer is officially IT. We're going to lose him now. I'm 27 btw. And me and my mom are his caregivers. But all our family has been supportive and relatives that have come to visit him. And he's starting to get confused and not remember things which is becoming much harder to care to. But me and my mom are trying to do the best we can to take care of him cuz he didn't want to stay in a hospital he wanted to be with US his family. He gets scared being in a hospital alone. So anyway that's my story. And this song touched me thinking of my dad. So I already prepared the song I'll definitely be listening to it alot to help me thank you! And love you guys!!!! 💜💞💜💞💜

Sam has told us before that he isn't much of a crier. However the part of the song when you wish you could change the past to let him say goodbye. It brought me right back to that video when Sam explained about his dad's death...and the part where he explained why he didn't get to say goodbye and even then, you could read it on his face, that it was the most regretable thing in his life. And hearing that part in the song just made it struck a much deeper cord in him again this time. I'm sorry that Sam and his brother lost their dad, his mom lost her husband...but I only believe that he is looking down from heaven and couldn't be prouder of Sam and all he's done and the love he's got to share with Jess and the whole world.
