Actually they started out on Disney Channel, there was a competition show around 2010 called Next Big thing or N.B.T and they were the winners of that show, the. They moved on to being in Let it Shine on Disney as well and eventually they made their way to covers on KZbin which led to them being signed by Beyoncé (fun fact: Chloe (the taller/older sibling) actually played the younger version of Beyoncé in the movie The Fighting Temptations

CHRISGOTTFANZ no the original commenter was correct. They started on KZbin(around the time they started on KZbin Chloe also starred in Meet The Browns) and that’s how they were discovered to be on that Disney show, and then later signed by Beyoncé’s label.

For what it’s worth, I do think they sang this live 2 or 3 times and spliced it together to make this as seamless as possible. Could be wrong but you can also tell at a few times with camera cuts their arm placements aren’t in the same location (but the vocal works because they’ve kept it from a separate take). I’m sure they could do this consistently!

Also it is a live vocal there chops are just that perfect. The performance is over dubbed. So they sang it 2-3 times maybe even four and they take vocal chops from each take to compose one seamless stem.

I feel like sometimes fans are too defensive on whether a musician did or did not lipsync. It's just not a bad thing, if they did it because they had a bad day, they were not allowed to sing or if they just did not want to, and I really don't believe it speaks badly of their quality as artists since it can improve the overall performance. Take Kate Bush for example. She's iconic and obviously can sing, however, most of her 80s performances are not live, which imo allowed her to improve on dancing, gestures and general theatricality. Anyway, great video Sam!

I think it's to save their voices often and nothing is wrong with that. Talking too much can cause a hoarse voice and be tiresome so just imagine singing often and repetitively plus always trying to hit the same notes, the same tones, the exact delivery and decibels.

Bc of COVID-19 this performance was pre-recorded at their home in their backyard, they just played the video on the livestream of KZbin's Dear Class of 2020. I think all of the performances from that event were most probably pre-recorded, bc if they weren't the quality of sound and image would drastically change, lol! Someone on Twitter figured out how they were doing these performances from home (including the TODAY Show one); all of these takes are performed live but the track is one performance and the cuts/shots are picked out for the best looking image. So in every shot/recording they are singing live it's just someone edited it for aesthetics and choreo. These girls are powerhouses live. Truly.

About the live singing.... as someone who has done some live videos (a few in front of the camera.... more behind) it's likely they recorded live on a take and then recorded other angles and such to that track. So one of the takes might actually be a live.

She was the producer on their last album, and the main producer for this too. You HAVE to watch more of their live videos. Especially their performance of Everywhere on the James Corden Show. They’re signed by Beyonce after being discovered by her on KZbin. They have an album that came out Friday called Ungodly Hour (along with a video for their song Forgive Me) please check it out. Their first album The Kids Are Alright got 2 Grammy nominations. Chloe is the oldest with the sultry lower voice, 22 years old. Halle is the youngest with the higher voice, 20 years old (she’s the one playing Ariel).

Most artists do it because it’s very easy to lose your breath when doing choreo and moving a lot. They’re amazing and did an amazing job, and there’s nothing wrong with lip syncing. Pre-recorded is still lip syncing as well, and there’s still nothing wrong with it. They’re performers and it’s normal and it is okay. You’re looking past all of the positively and making it seem like all that everybody is saying is that it’s not really their voices. It’s still their voice, and he is still loving them.

To me it seems that they are using backing vocals to give them more support while they do their little coreography (not necessarily during the whole song) and that's maybe why it sounds that in some parts they are singing live and in others we can hear it's pre recorded, but that's just my guess 😅.

Hi Sam, these young ladies are absolutely undeniably talented and amazing. They're sisters, which in my humble opinion when you have siblings that can sing, their harmony is like no other. I like watching your reaction to each thing that you really liked/enjoyed that they did, from the singing when Halle's (youngest of the two sisters is playing the Little Mermaid) voice comes in with the harmony, or when they both started dancing.😊 They've been singing together since they were little girls. They're both actresses as well. Love these two sisters!💖💖
