I really like the transition period from baroque to classical, there is still a little bit of “baroqueness” to it and I love it

The merit of Sammartini was the foundation of Symphony. He was friend of Gluck and Mozart who met him during his first trip to Italy. Also the younger symphonies written by Mozart evoke the Italian galant style of Sammartini❤❤❤

Italian composers laid the foundations for so many things, too bad a lot of them are sadly underrated.

I am a music lover, especially of the Baroque era although I must confess to not having paid much attention to this composer. I will now do so. The notes suppled are really educational for which I thank you.

Here's a fascinating tidbit for you. Giovanni Sammartini (born @1700) is a galant to classical composer who was in the forefront of the "new" classical style. But he had an older brother, Giuseppe (born 1695) who moved to London early in his life and hewed to the older high baroque style. Giuseppe's music mostly sounds like Handel (although without the inspiration).
