The truth is always good to face. It's bad enough Eddie's douche-ness was tolerated so thoroughly all the time he was alive, now you want everyone to pretend he was a saint? When Randy Rhoads died, all the musicians had a sympathetic quote to say about it in the subsequent month's Guitar Player Magazine. Everyone had something nice to say about it - except Eddie the douche, of course. Eddie said "He (Randy) did me to the bone, God rest his soul". Yep, he was that much a POS and that jealous of Randy Rhoads, who was very innovative and new. I'm not saying we should drag Eddie through the mud but rather he was a great landmark guitar player in the late 70s but got pathologically full of himself and on drugs and never developed significantly for 40 years into the future as a result.

Let’s not forget that Van Halen was in trouble so they reached out Sammy Hagar who literally just finished a long worldwide tour on his own. Yes Hagar was selling out shows on his own but since opportunity knocked he answered and answered did he because in my opinion the best Van Halen years were with Hagar. David Lee Roth’s live vocals were TERRIBLE he was more of a showman but Sammy Hagar had it all.
