It’s great how these stories are being told. It must feel good to get things off of their chests

On these interviews they always talk about pictures they brought. For shits sake show them

Nice interview by Joe Galloway. Joe was in the shit as a war reporter. He took up arms as the enemy overran their positions. Bad ass. Got a bronze star (as a civilian) in the battle of La Drang 1965.

More volume for the quest!!!!!!!!!!!!

I though Atlanta were working on the sound issue. The volume of the interviewee is barely audible. And this is a recent recording . Not good enough.

Vietnam soldier's stories in the 80s were similar but no generalities. Just saying.

The interviewer is one of the worst interviews I've ever heard. You just skip from subject to subject the many thing snot answered. You really older gentleman an apology and you shouldn't have them back to fill in the blanks. I'm very disappointed in Atlantic History Center for this. Example what rank was he when he graduated flight school a warrant officer an officer was this rank when he completed his second tour Did he ever fly helicopters again after he got out or what did he do for a living after he got out you missed all of this

Yeah...Galloway wasn't the best interviewer.

Joe's a great speaker, I think he was given a list of questions to ask because he seems stiff. They need to just let him go with the flow

You don't understand ... Joe Galloway was one of the primary "tell it like it is" reporters IN VIETNAM ... he served in battle as well as a reporter ... and decorated in battle ... as a civilian. I think he wants to cut to the chase after seeing what he saw ... his gift is oral narration, where he excels (ref. Vietnam documentary by Ken Burns ... no light weights in that documentary).

The man was talking about going to Flight School and then you interrupted him and said what was your first impression of Vietnam he didn't finish talking about us flight school or his graduation or his holiday it shouldn't have interrupted him

Bill Guthrie Yes, I was annoyed too. There seemed to be a set script of questions that rolled ourt regardless of the responses....like it want dynamic or specific to his story. They are good questions from a general standpoint but I wanted to know about flying school, the feeling of Uh 1 pilots vs Huey pilots and a whole different bunch of things that explored his answered rather than just the routine generic questions, good as they might be. Coughing too was annoying...sorry to say.

Most soldiers in Vietnam (20%) were in survival mode of ducking, looking, listening to hear what was playing on the radio! Just saying.

I usually ignore degrading statements that people make about someone such as the ones you guys have made about this interviewer, and i am in no way a qualified person that does interviews, the man you idiots are criticizing is Joe Galloway, the same man that was at the Idrang valley with Conl.Hall Moore and the rest of the 7th calvery in one of the first battles of this war,and coverd many other battles and done many interviews while in country,so he has earned any interview he gets,im sure this man had much rather have Mr.Galloway asking him questions about his service than either one of you or some snot nosed punk that could care less about what he did,so do us all a favor and use that lump of shit thats above your shoulders to think before you open your pie hole and criticizes someone,,nobody said the interview was perfect, but at least it was done by someone perfectly qualified to give it,,try to do something that is rarely done in today's society,,SHOW SOME FREAKIN RESPECT FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS ACTUALLY DONE SOMETHING TO DESERVE IT!!!,,,thank you and god bless America!!

What a hero….what a Southern gentleman! I wish he would have been asked what he did after he came home from Vietnam. I’m sure he was a success at whatever he did.

To those who criticize Joe. What part of Vietnam did you serve in? Were you there when the mortar rounds and rockets came in? Were tracer rounds snapping as they went past your head? Every question that Joe asked caused a flashback in Joe's mind of the danger that he endured when he was there. Give him the honor that he deserves for serving his country as a reporter. I salute you, Joe.
