Is HOI AN, VIETNAM Worth The Hype?! (our experience in Vietnam's city of lanterns)

I've watched so many youtubers about Vietnam tour, but you guys (all 4 of you) are the only ones who seem super comfortable, enjoying, and such strong connection to Vietnam, as if you guys have lived there for years. I personally think you guys should live there, NEVER leave Vietnam. Trust me, your viewers will cry the day you guys leave Vietnam. So STAY in Vietnam for good. Please! The only reason i'm following your channel is because of your meaningful videos and your family's interaction so comfortably with all the locals and the country.

We head to Vietnam, leaving for our trip in 9 days. Wanted to get a little heads up as to what to expect. We will mostly be in Hanoi and Ha Long Bay area. Thanks for your wonderful and fun videos, which give us an advanced looked at parts of the country. My eldest son married a delightful Vietnamese girl in our home during the pandemic and we are now going over there for a traditional Vietnamese wedding and to spend some time with her family, who we met stateside twice now. Being world travelers (80 countries and territories), I am delighted to see the quality of your work. Kudos and keep up the fun!

@@SammyandTommy Thank-you. We did have a wonderful time. Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, and the tour through Ha Noi were fantastic. The city of lanterns will have to be saved for a return trip. The "traditional" engagement gathering was so colorful, and the wedding/reception at the International Convention Center was much bigger than I expected with nearly 300 attendees. Keep traveling. You'll eventually get to the higher numbers. It is fun to look at Google Maps and see all the stars (favorites) all over the world. We are missing some notable areas, most of Africa, most of China, and the former Soviet countries, but safety concerns trump the need/desire to go. By the way cruising is a fantastic (and relatively inexpensive) way to get a lot of countries under one's belt, but it's hard to experience a country in-depth via cruising. They are touch and go highlights, which are fantastic in their own ways. All the best and keep up the good work. 😀

Unfortunately Vietnam 🇻🇳 only has 30 days visa at the moment. Come back to the south in your next trip back, perhaps after the raining season, it’s very different from the north. You guys should visit Dalat in the mountains. It’s cooler and quieter there. I think your family will like it there. Watch Max McFarlan’s vlog to give you some idea. Phu Quoc island 🏝 is another must visit. I’m Saigonese living in San Francisco but I have traveled extensively through SEA before.

I used to chat with Kara and Nate back when they first started many years ago and knew they would be big one day. You guys remind me a lot of them in their early days. It's the Southern disposition, politeness and manners combined with worldliness, interaction with locals and willingness to dive deep into the culture. I think if you guys learn some language skills or something that separates your content even more like history facts, food ingredients, even local stories, sports, fashion etc, that would push you over the top.

Those who are environmental concerned about the lanterns in the water, Hoi An’s environmental organization have boats going down that river area early morning to gather all the lanterns and pick them out of the river.

I've been enjoying your Vietnam series. But just to just to clarify you do not need to pay to enter Hoi An old town. Anyone is free to walk the streets, go to cafes and restaurants, the market and shops etc. The ticket is only for the 5 sites such as old houses, assembly hall and temples.
