all I can say is WOW! The 3-series of this trip was perhaps the most fun true deep sea mini series I've ever found in my 50+ yrs fishing for fun. Thank you both for your time & effort sharing. I want to add how refreshing it was in the banter between good pals w/o the need for profanity every other word. It's super in that I'm happy to share it with friends of all ages. you also let me vicariously live one of my dream fishing trips...all in all, dang sharks & all too, just thanks to you from West Sacramento California right near the Sacramento River....my love is still deep sea/ocean fishing though. I'm subscribed and a new fan.

Hi from nz. Love the content. You are correct with the cooling process. Quick tip. If you take the gills and guts straight away. Then put them into a 50/50 salt ice salt water slurry you will achieve the same result in 24hrs. And have a even better quality product. Good practice for any fish you're keeping. 🤙

Having been a mate on a few sport fishing boats (charter and drift fishing) all I can say is “Someone please do the maintenance on that teak transom”! It’s driving me nuts! Boat would look 100 percent better with it done up right. Also, that’s one hell of an adventure. Just one or 2 of the things would make a great 3 day fishing adventure. You had a decade of adventure in 3 days!

What an epic trip this was!!! A M A Z I N G ! ! ! I was always dreaming about doing a trip like this in the mediterranean since 28 years ago, when we heard the first time about “Deep dropping” , in Greece. From a few old fishermen, who told stories where they just used hand reels, then the first electric reels started. Since then i was only a few times, but when it’s Right then and such a Glassout happens it’s indescribable. Congrats guys! You two are a very nice team, giving a relatable known feeling. Keep on doing teamwork. 👍

I really like that you scaled the fish, that makes it so easy to take off the skin--and be able to eat the skin after a fry. Electric reels however is completely unsportsmanlike, it just is IMO.
@SammyHitzkeFishing2 жыл бұрын
We caught more on jigs then we did on the electric reels 👌👌🍻🍻
@jimquantic2 жыл бұрын
@@SammyHitzkeFishing That's good, nowadays I see more and more electric reels reeling in fish with the rod left in the rod holder, people not breaking a sweat while a machine catches their fish. And out where I live and fish, people "hand off" the rod to their buddies, don't want to work up a sweat--then Hi Five's all around. It's all part of a sad trend, I think. "Rail rods" so you can brace the rod on the rail, when I was young the deck hands would scream at you "don't let that rod touch the rail" and if you could not handle the fish--you pointed the rod straight at the fish, locked down the drag and let them break off. Yesterday's ethics I guess, gone like a big blue fin.

Awesome fish Sammy... what a trip! You guys should research Cato Island and Wreck Reef which are 200 Nm out from Bundy. I was with a charter business that fished the area going back just over 10 years and we only scratched the surface of the 'deep drop' opportunities. Plenty of good anchoring spots around the cays and islands too.

Hey Sammy, thoroughly enjoyed the three videos. Just a tip for your next catch of Bluey's; there's a whole lot of good eating flesh in the head. A lot of Italian fishermen I know, use them to make their fish or seafood soup. The most delicious bit of course is around the high cheek area. You will probably put the Bluey on the top of your best eating fish list. Cheers.
@Darkhorse78142 жыл бұрын
Good times aye boys. I'm not sure about the deep water species where your fishing but in NZ every deep water fish we have always has teeth so when we get bit from swordfish and dropped and the bait is scaled like one of your blue eye was....that's a swordfish. In your case the trick is using the right bait to stop the blue eye from biting and allowing the swordfish find the bait
@SammyHitzkeFishing2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! I didn’t even think about that. We may have had a little swordy encounter!! We are trying to get back out there when the weather allows 👌👌

Noticed you had your fish whole in the cooler. Is there a reason you don’t clean them on the water? Just thinking a bunch of fillets would take up a lot less space and would store better.

Ahh just heard you say you ice them for 3 days before cleaning them to let the flesh firm up.

As calm as the water looks from the surface, you just know what lies beneath the waves are some good eating fish, surrounded by hungry sharks. Seem like all the action is around that school of fish. I wonder how far down they are? Many of the fish you guys have caught have some giant eyes, making me think they live deep down where there is little light.

The fish on that part of the globe seem to be completely different from the ones where im from. Heck just different parts of the USA have completely different fish. Its why i like watching fishing videos.
