I know many Indigenous Australian communities were completely destroyed, languages and cultures lost forever, and this happened in far more recent history. I think many Indigenous peoples around the world have been wiped out in relatively recent history. I wouldn’t compare genocides, but I’m just saying there are recent examples of peoples and their cultures being destroyed by genocides.

There have been several holocausts in the Congo and other parts of Africa, numbering 10s of millions of deaths, yet somehow the jewish holocaust is the only one we're to 'never forget'. I think she was trying to highlight that the kids weren’t learning the basics because they’re uneducated but just because they’re starting in a new language. I think he was making fun of her phrasing because he’s a comedian looking for comedy, but I’m not sure that was actually a microaggression. Just acknowledging and emphasising her students are smart and capable learners but also beginners in the subject. Maybe I missed something but it seemed fine to me
