100% agree. For me personally, during Trump's term. The resurfacing of racist & rise of white nationalism that came with that was destroying my mental health. I had to avoid mainstream media for the sake of my mental health but I also still didn't want to not be well informed & aware of what's happening around the US/World. I found the only way to do that was by watching well-educated comedians & late night shows. Ironically, I find quite a few late night shows(such as John Stewart/Trevor Noah) made Americans even better well informed by calling out the bullshit of "left-leaning media" in their hypocrisy. With the more recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict, seeing/hearing about the thousands of innocent Palestinians, especially with such a large percent being children is already heart breaking as it is. Then to also see how the mainstream media making anyone criticizing & condemn the Israeli Government & their policies as "Anti-semitic" is absolutely beyond absurd. The hypocrisy in their lack of empathy for Palestinians life is sickening. I've never felt this physically sick to my stomach & saddened by what's happening ever in my life. It's similar to the blackhole one has in a chest after a breakup. I've been feeling guilty because I've started to have to avoid reading/watching news on the conflict because it's literally breaking my heart & mental health on how this is even a debate. This was nice to see after a couple weeks, he blended the comedy with the reality perfectly to remind me there are still many American's whom are becoming & have been well-informed about reality. Thank you! Sorry I know I'm not saying anything that we all here don't already know^^ I just needed to vent....

You think that it's OK for your side to take things from other people by terrorism, and then to call it "terrorism" if they make any attempt to get back their stolen property. My father served in the British War Office during and after the Second World War. In his accounts of those times, he just took it as obvious that the term "the terrorists" referred not to the Palestinian Arabs but to _the Zionists,_ the people fighting to place the new country of Israel where Palestine had been. The Zionists killed Arabs wholesale, and also British and UN officials who got in the way of their campaign of terror. In particular they used terrorism to remove Arabs from areas the Zionists wanted to settle with Jews. When some Palestinians resorted to terrorism in the 1960s, _almost a generation_ after their expulsion from their homeland of thousands of years, my father did not approve. But he did express surprise that it had taken them so long to emulate the methods -- or the heartlessness -- of their enemies. For almost a generation they had waited for international law and UN Security Council resolutions to be applied, but they never were. In those days the stereotype of Palestinians was that they were pathetic ineffective wimps who deserved no respect. The usual line was "Well, the Palestinians don't really seem to care much about returning to their homes. They are just sitting there asking meekly, not getting up and fighting to do so." But as soon as any of them got up and fought, using the only tools a dispossessed people have, the line changed to "You can't reward terrorism! They have lost all claim to returning now -- you can't expect the poor Jews to co-exist with _people who have attacked them!_ You can't ever let terrorism _win!"_ Unless, of course, it is _Israeli_ terrorism. Then it wins every time, though these days it doesn't even get _called_ terrorism. Standards are never applied consistently. But double-standards are applied _completely_ consistently. The targetting of medics trying to help such people. The "one shot two kills" meme (celebrated on Israeli T-shirts) where the aim is to put a bullet through a pregnant Arab woman's belly, so as to get the stated effect. The mass taking of hostages (officially "administrative detainees") -- there are usually many thousands of people, _including children_ under arrest by the simple signature of a Jewish official. (The principle aim of the al Aqsa Flood operation was to gain hostages to exchange for these political prisoners.) The Gaza fishermen who get shot up if an Israeli gunboat decides that they have crossed some arbitrary, invisible line just off the coast that their ancestors have fished for five thousand years. (The line separates that small fraction of the sea they are allowed into, the rest -- off Gaza as well as Israel -- being reserved for the immigrants.) The invasion, desecration and sometimes destruction of Christian and Muslim shrines, with the constant threat of the demolition of the al Aqsa mosque, the site from which Muhammad is supposed to have ascended into heaven, and the original centre of Islam. (For the first century or two, all mosques faced al Aqsa, not Mecca.) The habitual spitting on Christians and Muslims engaged in by certain Jewish sects. The variety of the cruelty and inhumanity was like something out of a Hieronymus Bosch depiction of Hell. After a while I couldn't take the horror any more, and stopped reading. But people in the Arab and Muslim world get to hear about it. That's part of the reason that those people sometimes appear "mad" to Westerners. _They know things that you don't._ Things that would probably make _you_ mad too, if you knew that they were being done to _your_ people, and the world was telling you that it didn't matter, and that _you_ were the bad people for hating the people who were doing it.

Falastin is still their colonial name, it's just in a different language. That's like saying "I don't attend school, I attend escuela." If anything, Palestinians should bring back their Indigenous names such as Cannonites, the Phoenicians, Amorites, Hittites, Jebusites, Hivites, Perizzites, and Girgashites, the Edomites,and the Moabites, the Nagev, the Arameans, and many other tribes. - Because as of now, when people refer to them as Arabs they then easily say "Palestinians should just go to another Arab country." You should look up Bassem Youssef and specifically his interviews with Piers Morgan. He's an Egyptian comedian who used to host a show similar to The Daily Show in Egypt, and his wife is Palestinian. The original name is Palestine, it is the name given to Israel during the biblical times 2000+ years ago, like the Romans called Romania “Dacia”, etc. The “original” Palestinians are thus the Jews, but many of them where exiled by the empires that controlled the region, and todays Palestinians are called this since they live in the area called so. Some of them have roots in Jews that remained and mixed with other immigrants over the centuries and many are immigrants from the recent centuries. Arabic doesn’t really do “p” so they substituted it.
