The quality of this is ridiculous. So much respect for the planning and execution it took for the hunt itself as well as the thoughtful videography and narration. PNW hunting is arduous and taxing, and this guy made it about 1000x harder haha. Excellent job, Samong. It may be coming in pt 2, but as someone who frequently hunts solo, I would love to see more discussion on how you keep yourself safe and plan for emergencies. Thank you!

Respect for busting your hump and putting lots of hours in. Really enjoyed this and it shows what a grind hunting can be. True hunters love that grind. Makes a harvest even more special when hard work pays off. Also, even more respect that you let that mother live so she could ensure the survival of her calves. That’s conservation.

That grunting and screaming at 10:20.... I have a very good friend who was solo elk hunting the Selkirk up past Redtop Mt, way back in the hills. He had not seen a person or vehicle in a couple for days. He was parked above a steep, thick ravine much like the one you are hunting here and at dusk, making something to eat and said that he heard some guttural screams, moans and what sounded like two or 3 "creatures" having some sort of dialogue in the draw below him. It was pitch black and the screams and shouts kept getting closer to him. He tried shouting back, throwing some rocks down the hill but he said they just kept making noise and coming closer. He started to hear branches break, he said what sounded like big branches/small logs being smashed against trees. It scared him to the point that he locked himself in his van with his .454 Casull in his lap. They moved past his van and up the draw further until he could not hear them anymore. He is not one to lie or make things up, one of the most standup, honest people I have ever known. It shook him up good. Mabey the Selkirk is the key to finding Sasquatch?

Outstanding video. I admire how deliberate and purpose driven when you hunt . But when that cougar went off making some seriously insane vocals, you took that like a champ. In dark timber with a bow, and an apex predator sounding like it's about to go full on crazy. And I saw you down load your gear and didn't see a pistol, I told my wife he was going to get face to face with something. A lot of men would have packed up and called it over. But you are motoring on and staying focused getting Boomer, well done.

Can you share your gear list? I'm interested in the pack you are running. The fact that it folds open completely and you can place the meat bag in it without having to either stuff it in from the top or jam it in from the side seems pretty efficient, especially for an elk quarter. It doesn't look like the Stone Glacier sky talus 6900 pack you showed in your 2022 gear list video.
