This video was so interesting to watch because I had such a different experience. We’ve been using the nursery sooo much. Maybe because our house is small but we do every diaper change in there and I nurse my son in there on the rocking chair 90% of the time. I agree that the boppy is useless but I do use the My Brest Friend breastfeeding pillow 100% of the time. Could not nurse without it because I struggled a lot with position and subsequently his latch and the pillow helped a lot. He also naps in this crib during the day so we’ve used the baby monitor since week 1. Just wanted to provide a different perspective!

Love the no stress approach! I feel like so many people over complicate how much you need to have and do before you have a baby. Sam you are right on the money....keep it simple. I feel like so many things just create clutter and stress. Sad you didnt like the medela pump though....that was my lifesaver at work for 16 months! I will say that flange size is SOOOO important with that pump though. Love the video 💕

I couldn’t live without the boppy for the first like 3 months I put my baby in it and put him next to me on the couch and he would hang out in there a ton I never used it for breastfeeding just putting baby in it to kind of prop him up and let him hang out with us more comfortably

I’m with you on the bow topic! I would rather my baby be comfortable. 🙂And Pampers Pure are my favorites too.
I have not bought a monitor yet and your reasoning makes so much sense! When my son is here, he’s going to be with me 24/7 so there is no need for one yet!
@cta757573 жыл бұрын
As a FTM myself I agree with most of this. No nipple issues. I used the Boppy for a short time until we transitioned from the football hold. We have always used the monitor but that is because my little one has been in his crib in his own room from day one. (Our bedrooms are super close together, so it wasn’t a big deal)

It depends on the size of your baby! With my son he was so small and we had to order a tonne more newborn size onesies as we didn’t have enough and he was in them for ages, so when I was pregnant with my daughter I ordered loads and she was a big baby and only in them for what felt like 5 mins 😆🤦🏻♀️

Some companies sell variety packs, go with those. Keep packaging, tags, and whatnot for things so you can try and return them. Second hand expensive purchases are also a great idea. MOST SLEEPERS/LOUNGERS ARE NOT SAFE FOR A BABY TO SLEEP IN. Last and most important, longevity rules over looks and often price. Whether you want multiple kids or not, longevity is the place to look. If it's expensive and you don't need it for long, good quality products can be resold for great prices. The Stroller Workshop is a channel that is completely unbiased and tells you what strollers are the best, and isn't sponsored by any companies. I highly recommend taking a look at some of the videos when purchasing a stroller/pram.

The boppy lounger instead of the pillow is omg a game changer. My son is obsessed with the lounger but the pillow I literally never used he wasn’t a fan. The dock-a-tot is still in my packaging. Never used lol but for baby number 2 I think will be super handy to have the baby in that while the other baby is running around.

Hey Sam. I am wondering about your difficulties in your motherhood journey? My son is two weeks old today and boy is it hard. He was born at 36 weeks but is doing great now on his weight and all. I am trying to breast feed but am barley producing any milk. I met with a lactation consultant and we have a plan on how to get my supply up but I would love to hear some things you struggled with. My baby is starting to have bad nights and as well and with me pumping every feeding... nights are rough. Thanks for your input. I love watching your videos and your positivity!

My hospital gave me a hand pump and nipple shield before we left. My daughter had issues latching but we powered through it (the nipple shield helped but I didn't directly buy it). I will say I didn't use the hand pump except when I got a clogged duct. The hand pump was amazing for that. The boppy pillow was a necessity because of the latching.

Definitely don’t need too many bows, my daughter pulls them off her head! Agree that the nursery doesn’t need to be complete. I used a similar product to the doc-a-tot and it was great but I wouldn’t use it again due to the safety risk. I haven’t purchased a baby monitor at all but I may get a cheap one when my daughter starts sleeping in a single bed in her own room. I love having my daughter in a crib next to my bed in my room and she’s 1 tomorrow and it’s so convenient. I didn’t use a breast pillow or the medela pump so I’m lucky they were handed to me second hand.

Interesting what you’ve said about the baby monitor. My husband and I didn’t get a baby monitor mainly because of the radiation (I know, I know😂) but I don’t like the idea of high EMF rates near my boy to the extent that I try not to use my phone around him. We live in a flat so I hear him very easily. However, when we go to my in laws home, we often don’t hear him crying because I have to put him in a room further from us so we don’t wake him and we bought it just to use it there. I used to call my husbands phone and leave it in the room to use as a baby monitor but that’s even higher transmission so we got an audio low EMF baby monitor for that
@amandaraujo373 жыл бұрын
That’s so funny you say about the monitor! I was glued to that thing with my first and now with my second I don’t use it at night. His scream is loud enough for me 😳 not that I sleep well anyway anymore 😂 I didn’t love honest diapers surprisingly! They just didn’t feel as soft 🤷🏻♀️

I would suggest at least buying one small thing of nipple balm before baby comes because if you end up having pain and cracked/bleeding nipples you are going to want to have the balm handy and not worry about going to the store or waiting any time before being able to use the balm because nipple pain is horrendous with breastfeeding!

I would much rather allocate money towards the owlet vs the snoo. I was so afraid of SIDS or her having a breathing issue when sleeping, even thought she slept next to me. My baby girl is 14 months and she will be next to me until her sister is born in June! I love having my baby by me but so nice to have a “watchful eye” on the baby when you try to get those few hours of sleep. I used cloud island diapers until she was a year and then it couldn’t hold the pee. I switched to pampers baby dry now but wish there were more cruelty free options like cloud island. Pampers really needs to get on board. Also download the pampers app to get free money when you buy them each time! We worked so hard to setup her nursery and she still doesn’t use it 🤦🏼♀️ so agree with that comment! We put way too much pressure on moms to have this perfect beautiful nursery and it’s not necessary. Mine won’t even be used until she’s almost a year and a half! Totally agree with the newborn sleeper/onesies. They need to be in that comfy warm material and clothes are hard to get on their little fragile bodies. I’ll keep my second baby in onesies around the clock this time for sure. I just ordered her the tempurpedic crib mattress on sale at buy buy baby plus their 20% off coupon, hopefully worth it. Do you guys still like your tempur? We ordered ours Sunday and should arrive in a week or two, so excited to hopefully have better sleep.
