What a superb musician you are on acoustic instruments !!! You also have a very impressive understanding of how to use electronics to mimic acoustics, To do that, Roland basically designed a saxophone and added several physical keys to this new instrument. This enables a good musician to imitate analog instruments. Additionally Roland added a whole new world of sound colors and expressions ... and the ability to play chords on a traditionally single melody instrument... incredible... and this is just the beginning. To the purist, the electronic sounds are somewhat close, but no bananas. However, this Roland instrument was singing in your hands. To the younger, less purist population, these new sounds are just an an addition to, rather than an imitation of, the vast library of acoustic sounds already in existence ... And new electronic sounds are being created as we speak. I think that at some point in the future, electronic instruments will replace the acoustic ones. How many people today have heard of a sackbut (predecessor of the trombone) or Viol da Gamba? (Cello like). Yeah... people still play them ... but... so what? ... Usually in somebody's parlor or basement :) These and many others, were the musical equivalent of a FORD Mode T. Sometimes they still run in parades :) It is hard to for me though, to imagine a saxophone or a trumpet etc. etc. going that route in the future. But, the future is a merciless force. !!! Bravo to Roland and to you !!!

@isax.academy2 жыл бұрын
Think of the Initial tones as memory spaces. You can select a Preset sound and save it to the User memory - the initial tones. Also if you make changes to any Preset sound you can save them to the User memory. Select and/or edit a sound. Press and hold the menu key Follow the instructions on the screen to save to a User Memory (Initial tone). Hope that helps.

Hi. I think you can only combine sounds in the app at this stage. Those combinations along with all setting can of course be saved onto the Aerophone in a USER memory. It works very well.

I think it doesn't matter if you are using an external synth. External synths only care about the "BiteOut" setting which affects midi events sent according to the bite sensor

If I ask this question is because I plan to buy one but I cannot try it before because I live in a little french island lost in the Indian Ocean (Reunion Island). So, the only way is to inform me by taking many and many informations. Thanks a lot for your opinion.

Hello! I got Aerophone AE-10 version 3.11. When I try to download sounds from instrument to a phone editor, it simply clears the sounds, so I have to load the editor app once and once again. Same thing is with my tablet as well. Editor App version for Android is 1.2.0. Would you please tell me what should I do? Thank you
@isax.academy4 жыл бұрын
There is confusion with this. The editor only loads sounds that you have previously saved as USER sounds on the AE not the internal preset sounds.

can it be used for fingering practise to support acoustic sax? I have many free time in my work and i want to practise scales, arpegious, transcribing etc. does it help? Keyboard is really same with sax? what's bothering you when we compare it to a real saxophone, especially about keys?
@isax.academy6 жыл бұрын
For fingering practice I think it’s a very viable tool. Even harmonic fingerings work. Great for playing self contained with headphones and backing tracks too. The saxophone relies not only on lip control but also the oral cavity makes a huge difference as you know and the Aerophone can’t detect those changes.

Hello Alister. I know you don't respond to these messages often, but on a lark, I'm going to ask only one. You said in a previous video that there were a "list of the CC controls and what they do" on the Roland website. I can't find them ANYwhere. You also used them again on the Editor App in this video. Is there ANY chance that you could copy and paste the "direct link" to the list? Great performance, by the way. Very expressive. Hope (and pray) to hear back from you.

Jaared A Hi and thanks for the kind comments. If you look here. www.roland.com/us/products/aerophone_ae-10/support/ And download the tone list. You will see a list of internal sounds and the CC controls you can try. For things like the Sample Modeling trumpet you can see the various CC controls on the settings pages and program the Aerophone to send which one you want to address. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the video. Using my Android, I did everything you instructed in this video to a T. But when I play the Trumpet alone (without connecting to midi software) in the new user slot, I get no response from the thumb joystick except for the down position, which was not changed. I set the CC codes exactly as you mentioned but moving the joystick left, right up does nothing. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Hi. Maybe I wasn’t clear in the video. Those settings are to control the SM (external) trumpet sound only. Not the internal sound of the AE10. I just did a video on CC controls you can use on the internal sounds.

Is it possible to have the Aerophone plug into your ipad or a similar device and also connect to an amp? I am interested in using these sample Modeling sounds while also being able to use them during a live performance. Is there any specific hardware that is needed to achieve this?
@isax.academy6 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Hoyt Hi. Yes I’ve played iPad sounds from the Aerophone. You need an Apple Camera connection kit and a USB cable. You then plug the iPad output into your amp or speakers. Be aware that some sounds might need editing to work well on the iPad.
@isax.academy6 жыл бұрын
Hi. I think one of them allows to charge the iPad at the same time. Otherwise they work the same way. So if you plan on using the iPad this way for a long session or on stage maybe it’s worth having the powered version?
