Simply perfect. This story can only be told in this language.. words don't make it justice.

i'm a hearing ASL student and this is only my 3rd year taking sign language. but i still think that this is the most beautiful poem (in any language) that i've ever come across. and the growth/emotion it demonstrates makes it that much more impactful

Oh wow! That was beautiful. Not going to lie, it reminds me of Melchior's train of thought during "Those You've Known"💖

can you translate this please? I am new to ASL, and I can catch a few words, but I miss a lot. From just the words I know, I can tell its a beautiful piece.

Same. I'm learning ASL because it seems that it's simply purer than English in its expression of emotion and concept, and because Deaf culture is a fascinating study in sociology and history, but..."learning" being the operative word. EDIT: I believe I have figured it out (although I may have misinterpreted a few parts), and it's extremely great. Brilliant in its use of the unique aspects of ASL (which are pretty much all of them, at least side-by-sided with spoken/written English).

Here again: As far as I can see there is nothing It's all empty Darkness closes in It's pouring and the wind is blustering I'm so cold and alone Nobody wants to know me I'm so alone. My world has fallen to pieces There is nothing left. I feel so much pain...so depressed. My tears are like rain My spirit is dried up I'll just blow it away Blooo....HOLD ON! Someone draws near "I love you" I'm confused...what? My heart starts to beat. It gets stronger, Filling my whole being Pouring out and restoring My world is full! The rain fades away, the sun burst forth The warmth floods me That... person....I feel LOVE! I'm not alone.
