I usually use audacity to sample. It takes longer to grab the sound because I have to listen to the full length sound. Same thing for Edison in FL Studio

I personal don't use structure free anymore for sampling because I'm now basically only using Ableton Live or Logic. How's Edison for sampling? Are you saying it doesn't let you just play part of a sample?

Hi. Can you assign a sound to each key?

Yes. Use the drum mode. It will let you assign a different sound to every key. That said, this is a horrible sampler so if you can afford it you should buy a different one.

Pro Tools is frustrating because it's honestly not that hard to use, it's the little things like this that feel so obscure that make stuff such as Progressive House so much harder with its interface as opposed to a DAW like FL Studio, so thank you for this

G.C. Yep. It has great features for audio editing, especially in grid mode, but I don't like using this free version of the sampler. I use Logic, or a dedicated sampler like Kontakt. Just using this because I teach a class that uses Pro Tools.

When exactly does Pro Tools start crashing? Like do you drag a file in and immediately it starts having issues? Sometimes this could be the case if you're loading a file from a slow disk like a thumb drive because Pro Tools tries to access it quickly and the disk is like "nah."

Awesome - Glad you found it. Pro Tools has now partnered with UVI and includes their powerful sampler Falcon 2 playback engine/synthesizer and sampler. It's much more powerful than structure free and comes with a Pro Tools subscription. You may want to check that out for further options. www.uvi.net/falcon.

I cannot for the life of me get this to work right. I am able to load a patch into structure free, but when I try to play it on my MIDI keyboard, it only plays like the very first bit of the audio that I selected. Any thoughts on what I might've done wrong?

Everything works fine apart from the fact that my midi Keyboard doesnt register with structure free, it does with everything else! Any help would be great.

You may have to assign the MIDI channel or input within the plugin.

can you map out multiple sounds across the keys in structure free? or do you need the full version to do this?

You can actually drag a group of files over the keyboard and it will map them onto adjacent keys. For more advanced stuff, I'd really recommend getting Kontakt by native instruments or something like that.

how do you update to the Air Pro accounts for the plugins? do you have to do it via Air's site or can you do it via your Pro Tools account? am relatively new to Pro Tools and am going through the 110courses at the moment with my studies and would like to have the fully working plugins that are bundled with the programme, ps thank you for your reply

I'm actually not sure about this. I don't own any Air Pro accounts, and I'm working with Pro Tools 11 mostly. I found this link that lets you buy Structure 2 (full pro version) outright for $150. www.airmusictech.com/product/structure-2#.WHmwybYrKV4.

Personally, I've only used structure free to teach basic sampling concepts to introduction to MIDI classes at community colleges. I personally use the Kontakt Sampler by Native Instruments. www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/samplers/kontakt-5/. Best of luck in your work!

You could assign loops to different keys and then play them back with the sampler. Just drag a loop on it, and make sure the MIDI note that triggers it is as long as the loop; that way the whole loop will play back. Is that what you're asking? Sorry if I got your question wrong.

I believe I just got it from the downloadable files available when I logged into my avid account. Try logging into your account, the look for available downloads for your software. There should be something with AIR instruments I believe. Another thought is Pro Tools Version. My current version is 11.

Is yours a .wav file? If not, it might need to be converted to .wav first (from mp3 etc). If you post what you did specifically, I might be able to help. Best of luck meantime! :-)
