I am a great admirer of Beck. I would categorize him as a highly talented individual. I appreciate artists who are not constrained by the need to repeat themselves and are continuously evolving as musicians. I will keep an eye out for that album.

You would love the album. It’s outstanding! In a league of its own. Beck is truly gifted. ✌🏽

Hey! Thanks for the shout out. I didn't show this in one of my Country Funk videos, mainly because its rather Byrdsian and not particularly country or funky...Apart from that bit Beck sampled. I did feature this a couple of years ago, in the first of my videos looking at lesser known country rock albums. Its a fabulous record. I have a CD of their second, Zuma, but I dont rate that as highly. Worth a listen though. Funny, I was grooving to Beck's Odelay in the car today. Cheers - Hedley

Hi Hedley. Funny I don’t care much for the birds but I really dig this Country Funk record. What do you think drove the band to call themselves Country Funk? Were they referring to hygiene 🤣. Appreciate you stopping by. There is a lot of country titles in this storage unit I’m currently digging through.

Country Funk have their own youtube channel with an expanded version of this album and a second album titled Zuma.

It's a perfect record as I said in your other video Steve. Like you say, all killer...no filler. I first heard about it on a forum in the late 00s and thankfully found one not long after. Regarding the LITA Country Funk comp I think their onus is more on soulful country. I have no doubt LITA were familiar with the group Country Funk but considered their sound more country psych rock. BTW The Bob Darin track Light Blue on the LITA comp is on the Commitment lp I recommended you. It's from 1969 and he only did one lp after that in 72 before he sadly passed. Please check out the live version of Long Line Rider on YT which is featured on his 1968 lp Born Walden Robert Cassotto. Unbelievably funky! Incidentally that LITA comp features Johnny Jenkins I Walk On Guilded Splinters which Beck uses for the drums on Loser. I'm an old hip hop head so always took an interest in samples 🙂. Cheers Nige

It’s so inspiring to me how artists dig up these great recordings to use as samples. When you mentioned Beck Sampling “I Walk On Guilded Splinters” I wondered if Beck’s line “Falling on a termite that’s choking on the splinters” was inspired by the same song 😂 I’ll checkout the KZbin videos you suggested. Thanks for cool exchange. I appreciate and respect your knowledge. ✌🏽💪🏽

@@TheVinylRecordMission Yep, I've always thought the splinters mention is a nod to that track. There's two live versions of Long Line Rider both worth checking. Cool colour footage, one from the Dean Martin show and another TV show in slightly better quality but both versions differ slightly. I love the way Beck sampled Them's version of It's All Over Now Baby Blue for Jack-Ass as well. Simple but effective. Regards Nige

I've got a rather nice vinyl box set of Darrin's two albums he released on his own Direction label, Born Walden...and Commitment, together with a third record of outtakes and live versions. All great stuff. Amazing to think that just a year earlier Darrin released an album of songs from Doctor Doolittle. Now that's a change in direction.

“By This Rare Album” is a continuance of the sentence at the top of the screen. I am not telling you to purchase the rare album. I can see how it may confuse some individuals.
