discharging CRT are way less dangerous than people say or think..unless you directly pull the cup and touch the metal you are perfectly safe discharging it with a a large screwdiver conected to the chasis cold ground.Great job saving that beauty!

I have a Sanyo CTP 3771, I imagine it's older than 1995. It has the horizontal line problem but it gets temporarily fixed by hitting the back of the TV (I really don't want to have to do that tho). Searching a very old forum post with this model number and symptom, someone said it's a problem on a part called LA7837 which looks a lot like the one you switched. I never soldered anything before so I'm a bit worried to try to take it apart and try to fix it lol

Here's the service manual with the diagram: elektrotanya.com/sanyo_ctp3771.pdf/download.html I'd offer to help, but I don't think shipping a CRT is a good idea. I have done it with success once, sent one over to America, but that was an incredible endeavour.

Mine just needed reflowing around the vertical IC but after I did it it has horrible discoloration in the top left of the screen (it was perfect before). Degaussing has helped somewhat.

Common Misconception. You don't *actually* need to remove the anode todo basic work on a CRT. It's really only if you're replacing a flyback transformer or moving the CRT out of the chasis.

I have a similar TV Samsung CB20F12T with a KS1A chassi. The problem I have noticed is that there seems to be noise or interefence on the video input if you inspect it closely. Does your television suffer from the same issue?
@NewGameOldFlame2 ай бұрын
Not his one, but another one yes, I will be looking at that one shortly. I have since repaired another 2/3 CRT TVs, but don't have an editor and don't have time to do the videos myself unfortunately. Where are you based?

I have a Samsung crt model: CB-5073Z I don’t know anything about crts, but could you give me a hint of what it might be worth as I’m looking to sell it?
@theretrohandyman77086 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I have no idea, here they go for free (FB Marketplace) or they can sell up to 500£, depends. Samsungs usually aren't as well regarded as Trinitrons so might be worth less. I tend not to scalp on these and - depending on the model - I sell them for 30 ~ 60 £

I have a crt tv that has a line running through it while the picture is going. I’m wondering if you could help in anyway. Thanks

Hey, sorry for the late reply, unfortunately it's not as easy as it seems in this video to fix a crt, I had a stroke of luck this once, but I have repaired many more and I can assure you it is not easy, there are lots of things that can go wrong and really hard to diagnose, maybe post a picture if you can? All I could give you is a guess though. In electronics guesses are quite useless (except this case)

Is there by chance anyway you could help fix my CRT? I have a Philips 24PT6341/37 model. The RF connector in the back has broken off and there is no sound on the tv. Is there anyway anyone can help me get it fixed? I contacted a bunch of local tv repair companies and none of them were able to help me out. If there is anyone that knows how to fix CRTs to this day do let me know!
@theretrohandyman7708 Жыл бұрын
Hey! Do you actually need the RF Connector? Do you have a SCART port? Sound might be as easy as a broken solder point or maybe the sound processor chip has gone, it's hard to tell from a chat, where are you from?

@@theretrohandyman7708 I’m from Wisconsin. I don’t have a RGB scarf connector. I only have RF, composite, s video & a component input. I wanted to hook up cable to it but I can’t since there is no RF connector and the sound stopped working shortly after. I’m not sure if this is fixable? Please let me know! Thanks.

@@TrevFadingToBlack I think most things are fixable, it's the amount of time and skills necessary goes drastically up as worse things happen. How bad is the RF connector ripped off? Is it the main board or only the RF connector itself? I would need to take a look to give an indication
@TrevFadingToBlack Жыл бұрын
@@theretrohandyman7708 The RF connector has broke off completely. It was already bent badly but as I was trying to attach a RF cable to it broke off and what’s odd is the audio actually quit working just after this happened. I’m unsure if you would like me to send pics of this to you somewhere so you can help investigate the issue as where I see it I can see part of the motherboard where the RF connector was. I did contact a few tv repair companies and they indicated that the RF doesn’t effect the sound but I don’t understand why the sound went out after the RF connector broke off. What do you think? Im not an expert with tvs so I’m hoping you would know enough to help me out!

@@TrevFadingToBlack Hey, sorry for the late reply, I don't think troubleshooting at a distance will ever work, especially with pictures, also I don't have a lot of time with family and all. At any rate send us a link with the a picture, I will take a look and can give you some advice, but I won't be able to help you out long term, unfortunately.
