I think in some cases you need to also use glass filters as the white balance is basically arbitary in raw mode and the EV is not set. Some processing is better left turned off.
@JustRomainYT11 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the comments. I got to admit I only adjust the shutter speed and ISO for the exposure, I never touched the EV (I don't quite know what it does..). I'll look up on that 👀 thanks!
@bunyaadi11 ай бұрын
@@JustRomainYT EV is the exposure value. Usually in 1/3,1/2 and1 step increments. So like the arperture of a lens when it doubles or halves the amount of light the camera can capture. Far as I understand due to the size of these photo sensors the actual physical changes do nothing on a mobile phone, so computation is used to emulate it. ISO is best left at a low value or auto unless the scene is very dark in my opinion. I was watching the video you done with the LIghtroom colour correction/grading which I find can be quite tricky unless you know your viewing platfrom is calibrated. Keep up the good work.

The raw are dark because of the way I set the ISO and shutter speed. It's preferable to not bump the ISO too high, and recover the luminosity in post instead🙂

"The sky was washed out". Next time slightly under-exposure the image so the sky is not "washed out", and you will more easily recover the shadows, as S23 Ultra sensor handles it very well. Highlights, not so much.
@JustRomainYT Жыл бұрын
That's a very good idea I thought about that afterwards but well I was already back to the studio so I had to deal with it. But I mainly wanted to see the difference between ExpertRaw and Pro Mode's standard Raw file using the same settings and see how different it would be when it comes to editing.
@kedralive7 ай бұрын
So pro mode is better? just take a photo so that it is not too overexposed? it seems to me that it is easier to squeeze details out of shadows than from lights.
@Pe11ePD6 ай бұрын
@kedralive yes, better if you plan to edit them in Adobe Lightroom or similar. Pro mode shoots RAW format which contain a lot more exposure information, so you can pull out the ahadows or reduce the highlights. You can't do that with JPEG. Expert RAW shoots RAW too, but it immidiatelly process it in the phone, so you'll get some strange processed image, sometimes with compression artifacts, over sharpening (you can see it on power lines, etc). Pro mode gives you freedom like you own a dSLR camera. I also use Topaz Photo AI to get rid of the noise if theres any, as S23 Ultra sensor is not that great, it produces solid noise above ISO 100, and even at ISO 50 if you pull out the shadows.

Yes it happens to me as as well, but what we see is the adjustment according to the AI in Expert Raw. But if we open the photo in Lightroom (for example), normally you'll see the photo with the way you've adjusted the settings. I think they do that to show a more flattering result one could get by tweaking the settings.

@JustRomainYT2 жыл бұрын
Hey there ! It's been a while since I edited those photos but I don't recall seeing a significant difference in terms of details even on the tire rims. But Expert Raw was definitely slower than Pro Mode for fast moving subjects. Pro Mode just snaps the photo instantaneously just like any mirrorless camera would. Expert Raw would take more time because it is snapping several photos before compiling them altogether. It can be frustrating

Automatic in camera use AI and high compression and that's why photo lost too many details. Expert RAW just not using AI for improve image and just do basic adjustments and save image in 100% quality. The best is save photo from PRO MODE from DNG raw file. Because even "Expert RAW" is not saving raw files, only JPEG
@JustRomainYT2 жыл бұрын
Hello ! Thanks for watching I appreciate 🙏 There might be a confusion. In the video I'm comparing Pro Mode and Expert RAW and not "Photo" from the Samsung camera app. Before Expert Raw Samsung phones were already able to generate Raw photos via the "Pro Mode" (which corresponds to "Manual" mode in other phone manufacturers) So all the photos in this video were all edited from their raw files (.dng) and I used the same settings as for the shutter speed, iso and white balance manually. I didn't rely on the "auto" at all. Pro Mode doesn't apply any AI unless everything is set to "Auto". We just decide manually how we want to set the shutter speed, ISO, focus and white balance, just like with Expert Raw 🙂 The difference is that Expert RAW generates a .dng file that compiles several photos at different exposure, increasing, therefore the dynamic range. It's also noticeably slower to take a shot probably because the dng.files generated combines several photos at different exposure while Pro Mode just takes one photo at its "raw" state.

There's indeed something going on with the colors when using Raw from the stock camera and the Expert Raw file. But that was to be expected since Expert Raw is compiling multiple photos at different exposure before stacking them all together in a editable file as opposed to the other app who is just taking a raw picture, no AI whatsoever, just a raw file to tweak after.
