Agree, but... Why the hell ultrasonic scanner detect gel case as fingerprint? THIS is where samsung's fail started. I think, if you make $1000 phone with security based of fingerprints scanning, you should be worrying about scanner properly detects ONLY fingerprints. Like, real fingers. Not gel cases. And not plastic screen protectors. And no other stuff. This is not 100% samsung's guilt, but some there is some portion of their fail.

My understanding is the s10, s10+, and note 10 can be fooled by certain screen protectors, something you put on and leave on, and then register your prints. Samsung’s statement acknowledged this, and basically said not to use those protectors.

The fault isn't that it's inaccurate, it's that it's so accurate that is has the read into the small microscopic crevices of a manufactured plastic in a specific spot to even unlock. Did anybody try wiping the fingerprint off the the screen and trying this ? Cause if its ultrasonic reading ofcourse it would read the already smudged fingerprint on the screen when pressure is applied on it by a blank surface. But still tis to be confirmed

We tried this with 4 different cases and registered fingerprints without the cases on. Result was that only 1 case out of the 4 unlocked the phone. The unlocking works even if you register print without a case on just depends what case you apply to the screen after.

Just throw away that case and reregister your fingerprints. Since the microscopic dents on the case is registered. So once those unique dents are gone with the case, no other gel case can unlock your phone again.

I think the problem is those who add a screen protector. Quite common. Can always take away the screen protector, but it's an additional chore to remove, wait for software update and reapply.
