I just received my A51 in Prism Crush Blue today from Amazon, $283.99. I am blown away in how great this phone is. I broke my S10e four days ago and was going to actually buy the S20 Ultra but decided I didnt want to spend well over $1000 again for a phone. Im totally loving these mid range phones with flagship features. They need to be called "mid flagships" lol. Oh, I just subscribed, love the content and quality of your videos!

I think this phone is incredible to the touch, you can hardly tell if it's plastic if not because of the weight. It also doesn't attract fingerprint as bad as real glass. I am very impressed with their body.

Nice phone (I chose it too after reading multiple professional reviews) and thanks for a good review. A few minor points, though: the phone does have face recognition as one of the unlock options and it is IP68 certified, which is a big deal when it comes to waterproofing a device. Updates are important, too. This one is in line for getting those for at least 3-4 years, according to my salesman. The reason I bought a new phone is that there will be no more security updates for my old favourite, the trusty Galaxy S7. It was a flagship back in the day, but the A51 has the same specs and then some, even though it’s ”budget”. Plastic instead of glass on the back means nothing. Just use a leather case. I suspect that this kind of phone will get increasingly popular due to exceptional value for money.

It’s tough to buy a phone like this when you can get a used note 9 for prices similar to this one. Facebook Market Place has really changed the game for buying second hand phones from a trusted seller. I guess I prefer a more premium feeling device 😏.

Clear and wonderful insight into the Samsung A51. I am using an OPPO A71 (1801) which keeps hanging and rebooting itself. So am pretty fed up with it but I use it to record sound with an external mic for my vlog videos. I wanted to know if you can stick a TRRS (4 pole) jack to record sounds from an external microphone. Also how good is the slow motion video. Some high end smartphones allow 0.2 seconds of slow motion at higher speeds, 960 FPS, which makes it difficult to trigger the slow motion recording at the correct time. Actually, I am looking for a budget smartphone that can record sounds from an external mic and can do slow motion at either 120 FPS or 240 FPS (might consider 480 FPS) for my vlog. Anything faster would be too expensive for me. Thanks

@@vervetech9395 actually it depends. I'm currently using the 5t and I can say is it's okay. Screen is not that bad. The k29 pro, has issues with screen like amoled burn. Been seeing many reported issue about the screen being an amoled. So either get the k20 pro or the 5t rather than waste it on a a51 or a71.

@@user-dj7nt2rt2b pros: Performance is flagship level Battery is okay, can last a whole day Charging is faster than the k20 pro or a50,51. Screen is bright and colors are great. Camera is excellent. Cons: UI (for me stock is better) Touch is not the same as flagship phones (multi-touch) Blacks are not dark enough, slight greyish since it's an LCD. No IP rating. No headphone jack. So the pros outweighs the cons.. total worth it for the price and day to day tasks is excellent with it.

I think the reason why it was underrated is bec they tied this phone to local network providers and wouldn't allow to sell on samsung stores or other smartphone stores plus a50s was not that old and their price are totally different

Thanks! The A71 is the faster, bigger phone, but is more expensive. I have not tried the 9t/K20, but as far as I know it's a very similar phone to the A71. Samsung will have the better cameras and display tech though, so I'd lean towards the A71.

what almost all revievers seem to overlook ... this phone is currently the ONLY one that gets software updates EVERY MONTH! Yup, that's a more updated phone than the flagship S20. It's also more updated than the more expensive A71. As far as i know those only get updated every 3 months. The reason is obvious; they expect to sell many millions of this phone thanx to it's great bang for buck rate, so it's worth to put more money into support for this phone instead of the A71 which will sell a lot fewer units and thus won't be as profitable (same for S20), Also it will entice buyers from the J-series to spend a little bit more (10-20%) money and buy an A51 (J series get 1-2 update per year at most) instead of replacing their old J-series with a new model of the J-series.. I've only had A-series phones since it's first release (Galaxy A3 original-> A3 v2016 -> Galaxy Tab A 10.1 LTE (2016) -> A6 (2018) -> A51 (2020). Before that I always looked where i could get best bang for buck and if phone had snapdragon chip so i could install cyanogenmod; I've had phones from htc, acer,..
