6 years of usage, 2 times phone went crazy and began to constantly turn on and off and had to take it to repair, battery got swollen after 6 years, and phone had weird problems like getting no service or very bad connection where it shouldnt, so switched to s20 last week But it was a great experience

Black Knight Yeah, you can say that, I agree but biggest issue is no sd card slot. Recording 4K video with only 32GB total storage? That's a bit NO from me. I got Canon 650D, 32GB is for 1000+ RAW pic and thats it. I guess bitrate of 4K video is low to compensate for storage.

Yes, coz samsung uses Pentile tech for their screens. It can even make a 1080p panel look like a 720p one! So just think what worse can it do to a 720p panel. Whereas the iPhone uses the most accurate "LCD" panel on the market which is 100% sRGB, and many more tech in there which makes the display really good.

Apple fan here. Guess what? That Samsung phone looks pretty nice. Its ok to have competition and similar devices. Its good for all of us. Its ok to say other phones and operating systems are good too. Different strokes for different folks. I'm perfectly happy with my iPhone. I am really excited about this! This phone might not have all the best specs and it's back is still covered by cheap-feeling plastic, but look at the potential of this new design! Obviously this phone wasn't made to rule the market, yet. But if the SGS6 is getting this metal band as well, along with a nie high-end material back-cover, I think we might have a pretty decent approach for the perfect phone! Nice!

I really don't get it.. This galaxy alpha is overpriced device. No SD slot. Lower resolution camera. Smaller screen. 720p lower quality screen. 8core but 4working 1.8ghz. Not water resistant. Hector Zuniga ikr? mkb was an annoying bitch in this video. Thats one thing I hate about most mobile people. They complain about somethings without even knowing the hardware. 12mp or 16mp doesnt make any difference. 4.7" is bloody perfect for one hand use and that is something I value a lot. The battery on paper seems low but thats cuz the exynos cpu is of 20nm manf process so its way more power efficient and hence they went with the smaller battery to save weight and hence this is fucking light in the hand. And benchmarks prove its damn fast charging also. And I got it this month since it retails at same price as s5 and half as much as it used to be when it launched. I love this phone.

I don't get why everyone is disappointed with the quality of build from the samsung phones. I Think it's an advantage that they are made of softer, plastic materials; I'v dropped my phone plenty of time and it's never cracked, or broken the screen, or had any issues. Where as if you have metal, like iphones, and you drop it, you're most likely screwed (without a case). I understand people want "premium" feel, but what's so premium if you have to hide it in cases and get a new one every time you drop it. Just my opinion.

whether it has metal, platinum, or diamond framing..will not matter, nor does anyone care if it has a "premium" feel to it. what matters is the functionality, the smoothness of software, multi-tasking capabilities, etc. Such metals get scratches on them easier, and if wanting to replace the damaged metal parts, it will cost more. rather have the durable plastic :)

The Alpha is the first to adopt a metal frame and for Samsung fans, this is a step forward for upcoming devices...starting with the all-metal Galaxy A3 and A5. The Alpha itself isn't a bad product at all, even if it doesn't supersede the Galaxy S5...and a 720p resolution sure doesn't have the same level of sharpness and detail as a 1080p, but it's good enough to please your eyes. There are other features, however, that the Alpha lacks or could have improved before launch, so in all, even if innovation always implicate high development costs, Samsung's new look on the Alpha doesn't justify its hefty price tag in my opinion.

i have been using Galaxy Alpha SMG850Y since 2 Years as my Primary Phone. I love this cute little powerful device. Even build is sturdy i dropped Alpha like 4-5 times but it survived all the time. Thanks to Gorilla Glass 4 and solid build.

Galaxy s5 can do that just go to settings > language and input > voice search > "OK Google" detection > and check the boxes "from any screen" and "from lock screen" it recognizes voice even in sleep mode

In competitive market like this one you have to copy people. Technology moves so fast thanks to these guys. All you Samsung fanboys benefit from the Iphone. The Iphone puts pressure on so many companies to release a good phones because Apple's reputation with the Iphone. The reason why Apple today has a 5.5 inch screen was because of Samsung. Samsung was using bigger screens years ago so in order to be competitive in that market Apple needed to release a device like that too. They are competing for our money, the more they compete the better phones we get. If it was only Samsung or only Apple making these types of phones they would start producing cheaper lower quality phones. Everyone should like Samsung, everyone should like Apple because without them we may still be using flip phones. The 1st Iphone was released 7 years ago. Look at how far the phone market has come. Just saying

maybe baby steps to improve build quality across the board? as a user that roots and flashes out of the box I love the removable back. (nothing worse then having to wait for your battery to die if it freezes up during flashing ie. htc) I bet the alpha would fly running Cyanogen. I hope the alpha is a sign of what's to come.

I checked this phone out yesterday and I like it. Its one handed friendly and has that premium build. You can replace the battery too. Its very fast and has a great screen. Theres no memory card slot but it comes with 32GB of memory. Id get it since its not a big phone like almost every android coming out these couple of years.

Plastic back means removable battery and less dependence on antenna bands for signal. I guess the design you could compare yo the find 7 where it has a metal frame (aluminium-titanium alloy) and a plastic back

I hope they make the new Galaxy S like this. Semi premium is the best. I like how it's back feels, plus the premium metal sides. And the metal edges just makes it feel much safer to drop then with plastic edges.

Hello Internet peeps. The Alpha and the Note 4 builds make me look forward to what they will do with the GS6 in the spring. The GS5 is already virtually tied with the i6 on many levels like the camera. If the next one has OIS and is improved in every way without getting bigger, I think it will be very good. I don't understand the constant criticism of Samsung using polycarbonate plastics on the bodies of phones. It is the best material for the application. Glass phones break too easily, all metal phones mean no user replaceable batteries. I don't know about anyone else, but the first thing I do when I get a new phone is get a good quality case for it (usually made of polycarbonate and silicone). I wish manufacturers would spend more on really strong battery life than on "premium materials" that w just cover up with a durable plastic shell

I don't think it matters much if the device seems "confused" with its removable plastic back. Most people will buy a plastic case to cover up the aluminum anyway. So its kind of a moot point.

So to cover the cost of the metal frame they had to decrease the camera's mega pixels from 16 to 12, decreased the display resolution from 1080p to 720p, and got rid of the external storage. Can't really see anyone going for this to be honest, unless they don't know what they are losing by getting this over the plastic one.

Seems to me like a poor imitation of the Nokia Lumia 930 rather than any iPhone. It has the same thick metal band around the edge, but the 930's back feels really premium as well imo, making the build overall better. I also love how the glass curves subtly into the frame.

I'm currently living my new LG G3, but I was considering getting this phone. Because of its specs, size and performance, it is similar to the phone I was upgrading from, the Galaxy S3. This is honestly an underrated phone. If the G3 was not out, I would of gotten this Alpha even over the new LG G4. It is so frighing comfortable, like the GS3.

You say that the resolution is not enough, but this phone is 312ppi, and the iphone six is only 325ppi. Both screens are the same size, so they're used from the same distance, hereby I declare the Galaxy Alpha a retina display phone.

I don't think this phone was made to fly off shelves. Samsung most likely released it as an introduction to their new design model. For example, the Note 4 has the same metal edge and the S6 probably will too.
