But mind it that only the colors look different. I don't really know why, probably processing. When you take the photo folded they look more cold, while open they look more warm. So your skin looks more white folded versus more tanned open. But since it's only colors that change, almost everyone edits it a little bit before posting so you can customize it how you want. Of course, im commenting from my Flip 5

I think it is because many youngsters did not experience the flip fad back in the day, so were not prepared for when the honeymoon ended and it becomes more of a chore to keep opening and closing compared with the mature design of a candy bar phones.

​@@andyH_EnglandAs someone who loved using my old Samsung flip phone, the new ones lack one feature that would make the flip a great phone is the ability to easily open it one handed. Literally EVERY flip phone had this solved by adding a slight ledge to the top and bottom of the phone so your thumb can get leverage between them to open it.

Another thing i have noticed is that the flip has way better sound both recording and playing back video than the fold or the 23. And sound is king in media. The cameras are more of a user thing. I can take amazing photos on any device depending on light and composition. So that to me really depends on what, where, and when you are taking photos. If i am looking to take amazing images my first thought is never a cell phone no matter what brand or model. I think the market for this phone is more for creators and the fact that you can record yourself on the phone in flex mode instead of having either a bulky stand or a second person to help with traditional slab phones.

Loved your review. I'm Upgrading from Flip 4 to Flip 5. Your right about the cameras but fortunately they're not a priority for me otherwise I'd go the S23. Fyi, the Flip 5 can also run all apps on the coverscreen if you install Samsung's cover screen launcher which is accessed thru Samsung's goodlock app...

So, the unfair advantage of them being in this space is only because they were ready to take risks on foldables, and the customer support, no doubt. This Samsung has one of the best customer support out there.

Initially Samsung's support on the Flip and Fold was patchy. But the bad news soon spread to social media and Samsung reacted by improving their process and by giving customers the benefit of the doubt rather than the other way round. So, I think overall customer support is A- if Apple is A+.

With Good Lock you can add any app on the cover screen. Unfortunately Samsung doesn't make it easy to access. Cameras are fine if you don't want a telephoto. I rarely use the internal display now.

Well well well, this was a great live on the street report which is certainly make a change to way other reviewers are reporting on new phones. I do like the quick change of different location and environments to show the capabilities and the shorts commings of the flip 5. Jacklyn you have obviously have that key ingredient that gives a pinpoint report in all of your videos and this one is is another prime example. Keep up the great work.

Fabulous, fun, flawless Friday video! I liked the writing on the posterboard with the markers, that was a nice new touch! I love the pocketability of the Flip 5 but the camera is a real letdown! Hopefully they can improve on that in the future. Will be interesting to see if the flip form factor ever goes mainstream. Your videos really start the weekend off right! 🙏

Yes, it would be even better if the Flip 6 is made 76.2 mm (3") x 76.2 mm (3") closed, so the aspect ratio when open is 18x9, with the option of rotating the outer screen when the phone is on it's side. and has a 3rd camera across the top. These phones are tall, so the narrow main screen has an odd ratio. That said, I like my flip 4 although I rarely use the outer wiget screen, and so the 5 looks like a real upgrade! Tent mode looks useful too.

As a flip 5 user so far my experience had been good but recently after 6 months of usage there was a green line in the phone for which the servicr centre change the display under insurance then afrer 3 days there is a black dot i cant say its a reliable phone. Buy only if you are careful and use phone less otherwise other models are far much better

Actually I love the compact form factor, then if I'd rather choose out from these 4 phones the iPhone 13 mini, Samsung S23, AsusZenfone 10 or the Samsung Zflip 5 hmm then I would choose the iPhone 13 mini and the Galaxy S23.

Time will tell, but as you say, the Flip 3&4 both had this issue and is one reason Samsung nearly gives you a Flip5 free if you trade in the Flip4, to get older devices out of circulation before the screen has issues (not all but more than acceptable).

Hi i just want to ask if the battery drains fast when u use it constantly cuz when i open tiktok on my flip 4 every 5 mins i lose 1% of my battery (i bought it recently and have problems with it, i might change it into the zflip 5)

not bad for flip 5,, maybe still better than the 4,. but the camera still have the same quality as A3(*) - A5(*) series. I hope in flip 6 they make more pixel on the rear Camera,, at least 20MP are enough. for me 12Mp are not good enough for Flagship Phone, even my Samsung A32 Have 64megapixel hehehe so, i will wait for the 6 !

The camera hardware is cheap as Samsung try to claw back the R&D and high costs of marketing. Rumour suggests it will get a better camera next year so probably worth waiting for that, and hopefully a better front display which is also cheap (60Hz and low resolution).

Screen protector on my Flip 4 de laminated recently after few months of use. I reached out to Samsung online via chat and hey created a ticket immediately. I was directed to take my phone to a local repair center and the repair was done free of cost under warranty, in under an hour.

Yes, Samsung has had thousands of screen protectors peeling off and introduced a free first screen protector repair. After that it will be $20 a new protector. So if it happens every few months be prepared for a few $20 bills. Hopefully, they have a new protector that works better as it was clear that the Flip and Fold 4 are flawed in that regard for too many people.

FYI the repair cost to me was zero but the invoice was $50 that Samsung probably paid. This was a third party repair facility.

I have a Flip 4 and use it without screen protector, no scratches whatsoever... However I updated to the Flip 5 that does have a screen protector. Now when scrolling the crease is much less noticeable, so Iight ger one one the 4 as well, free of charge by Samsung. Have to send it in anyway because of battery charging problems (says phone is too cold, really weird)

Hopefully future updates will allow more apps on the cover screen. I think right now there's only five or so available. Good lock is an option but some of the apps aren't optimized for the cover screen.

There will not be too many future apps per se, but more widgets. A lot of apps simply do not translate well to that front screen and I doubt devs will be quick off the block to make them! In any case, only 60Hz, a relatively tiny screen with low resolution, I am not sure that it is an experience worth using for £1050.

When I answer a call and the phone is closed . It is on speaker phone . When open, it can be switched . You do not have to open it to take a call .

So far loving my flip 5. While the camera may not be top notch, I think for causal use it does a pretty good job. Besides if I want great photos I'll use my iPhone 14 pro. Overall I'm very happy with the flip 5 and the battery life is improved over the flip 4
