Once you get into the phones like the S10 with those nice Snapdragon 855 w/ 8 cores and Adreno 640 GPU along with 8GB RAM (LPDDR4X 2133MHz 16-bit quad channel)... You're good to go until your phone dies. I'm sure it's the same with the Note 9, I just don't have that one. I run DoorDash which uses Google Maps, then always have Amazon Music playing the highest quality music (24-bit 44.1khz - 192khz) while texting/calling or responding to texts/calls from customers every day. Then if there's a time where I'm stopped an taking a break or waiting for an order, I'll pop open Clash Royale. Everything is just always ready to go and instant feeling. No overheating like my last phone (Galaxy S7). So there's no cores shutting down because the phone is too hot. NOTHING makes my phone hot. Everything just works. I came from a Galaxy S7. Snapdragon 820 w/ 4 cores and the Adreno 530. 4GB RAM. There are two main things that are necessary for Android to run as intended... and it took them YEARS to finally do it. You need enough RAM. You need fast storage. For instance, the Galaxy S7 only had 4GB RAM. That isn't enough and never has been enough RAM for Galaxy phones. It also used eMMC for the internal storage. That's half-duplex, btw. It can either read OR write, not both. I'm not sure when UFS came out, but the S10+ uses UFS 2.1 and has full duplex so that it can read and write at the same time. Combine that with 8 GB RAM and you have a phone that is ALWAYS ready to go. Everything is instant. It never gets hot, even after running DoorDash + using Google Maps and playing Clash Royale here and there, browsing the web, watching KZbin, reading about DoorDash on Reddit, etc. etc., staying connected via Bluetooth to my car playing music the entire time.. it never gets hot. Not even warm. The battery life is AMAZING. I don't even use the charger while Dashing. I can probably go 7 hours screen on DoorDashing. No less than 6 hours. The Galaxy S7? It required me to keep the charger plugged in all the time, and it was always running so hot that it wouldn't even charge it. Then I'm always monitoring my CPU frequencies/usage and temps, and it would always get up to around 104-108F battery temps and shut one of the 4x cores down. That's when my S7 would just hardly work. I've never had anything like that happen with the S10+. Battery temp usually stays in the 80's F. Maybe up to 90-92F on a hot day with the screen brightness cranked up. It's tethering internet to my PC right now via Wi-Fi Direct, screen on, mirroring using Phone Link for Windows and it's at 81F. So, yeah, it'd probably be just over room temp if it was just lying there doing nothing. It'd also be cooler if I was tethering via USB instead of Wi-Fi Direct... but Phone Link for Windows requires WiFi for screen mirroring. Samsung Dex can do it on Wi-Fi (either via router or Wi-Fi Direct) OR via USB connection. But that's a whole other topic. Samsung Dex is freaking awesome, too. It handles that amazingly, as well. That's the same thing as running two instances of Android at once and it has ZERO issues. You could be watching KZbin on Dex on your PC and playing Clash Royale on the phone, itself, and never know. The Snapdragon 855 is so powerful. 8GB RAM is finally enough to never max out. And UFS 2.1 storage rocks. Plus it's USB-C 3.1, which now would be called USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, I believe. So I finally have a use for that USB-C port on my custom built PC haha. It's 5Gbps. I could use the 3.2 Gen 2 SuperSpeed ports, but those are USB-A and, well.. firstly the phone would just have them running at 3.2 Gen 1 speeds (5Gbps), and secondly, it's the only thing I have that can use USB-C, so I may as well use it 😛 I've had the S3, S4, S5, S7 and now the S10+. This is the first and only Android phone I've had that runs like they always should have ran. 6GB RAM wouldn't have been enough for me. I usually hang right around 6GB RAM usage while I'm out doing my thing with everything running. Sometimes just under, rarely over. And I disabled the Virtual Memory thing it has, so now it's even faster. Okay okay... I'm sure you can tell I absolutely love this S10+.

Same, got mine on Tuesday, it's a beast. Size and weight are a bit of a pain, but worth it IMO. I MIGHT take up Samsung on their trade-in offer for the Note10 though. Not sure. I kind of hate the cut-out. I don't mind notches, but cut-outs are worse IMO. I mean, it's a hole, in the display, why.

@wadu hek Not one bit, the Note9 is the best deal you can get on a Samsung device. Still feels brand new and as you saw is damn near as fast as the S10+ for 1/2 the price
@shawnwilliams70215 жыл бұрын
@wadu hek It doesn't lag. Apple fans love to say Android, and specifically Samsung, lags but that's just not the case any more, Samsung's One UI has done an excellent job addressing this issue. I use both, Apple and Android products, I use what I like and what works best for me, and imo Samsung has really worked out any lag issues over the past couple of years. The Note9 deserved being named POTY in 2018, incredible device, still one of my favorites.
@davidblee8195 жыл бұрын
@@shawnwilliams7021 I second that. I've had my Note 9 since release, and other than once in a blue moon when it freezes up completely or won't reboot (only happened twice since I've had the phone and once it froze when I was trying to use Samsung Pay), there is no major lag even after almost 1 year. I might get an occassional stutter on an app or game but nothing that makes me want to pull my hair out. It IS a computer/tech after all and no piece of tech is 100% perfect.

Couldn't wait for the Note10 anymore (largely because I had a deal that involved switching carriers & upgrading from/trading in my Note8 and my wife's S9 for a pair of S10+) and it had to go down ASAP. Do I miss the S Pen functionality of the Note8? Like hell I do. No regrets, though, considering that the Note10 loses the headphone jack *AND* it's only the larger Note10+ that will have Micro SD card support. If that's the way Samsung wants to go with the Note series, I'm out.

Well the note 9 is amazing and the s10 plus is a step above I would like to buy the S10 Plus cause it's design and the overall feel in the hand but if Samsung went with a pop up camera like 2 cameras in one housing or just one camera like the S10 then the note 9 would be my 2nd choice. Samsung could have easily out a pop up camera and well then you'll get the best full display smartphone on the market for now. So it seems that the Note 9 is the one for me and others who share my views on the hole punch.

The Note 9 takes wide angle photos. If you take a pic with live focus and go to the gallery, you'll see two options. One of them will be wide angled. I do it all the time. Won't upgrade my Note 9 till the 11. I do a lot of emulating and the no holes or notches screen on my Note is perfect. Gran Turismo and God of War @ 60fps with Dolby Atmos I'm good. No loot boxes or IAP just pure gaming but I digress.

S10+ has a better wide angle camera... And can charge other wireless charging devices... Note 9 has an S pen and no pill shaped hole punch... I just got my Note 9 on January 2nd 2020. I love the S pen! If Samsung would make an S phone without the notch/pill shaped hole, I'd get it... Speed is essentially the same in my opinion...

I think Snapdragon is a rip-off. The differences in speed and power is barely noticeable in real life. The .002 seconds in the opening of apps is negligible. Seriously the speed test are pointless at times. We should be playing PS3 quality games natively at this point and all we get is asphalt 9 and Candy crush. You wanna impress me forget opening and closing apps show me a port of God of War 3.

I would take the Note 9. Having the S-pen to translate automatically is priceless. However, for the price to performance, the LG V40 is simply king. As fast as the Note 9 and it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cheap now. Plus you get the quad DAC. And SD card. And waterproof. And great screen. Only the notch sucks. But you can get one for fucking 3 bills. That's insane.

@@mdrahman6732 Well, the OnePlus 7 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 9 are my main phones that I use because of how fast and smooth the are, both are new this year rocking the SD 855 and both have skins that don't slow down the phone one bit. The cameras are solid. The OP has a 90hz screen and there's a ROM you can put on the Mi 9 to get 84hz refresh rate. All in all they're great phones. I could go on but I'm not sure how much detail you're looking for. As for how much tech I have, too much, lol. I wouldn't even know where to start.

AmpEdition In order for the Quad DAC to engage high Impedance Mode you need headphones that have a minimum impedance of 50 ohms, without this level you’ll just be listening to normal Hi-Fi mode. 50 Ohms is just the trigger point, I believe the DAC can handle up to 600 ohms. I’m not debating your experience, I’m just providing a little background in case this was the issue. I usually use Sennheiser’s that are at 300 ohms and the phone has zero problem driving them.
