Thank you for posting this comparison. I've wanted to trade in my Samsung 9 for a while now. Sounds like Samsung really overhyped their marketing for the 20. Made it sound like this phone would replace all DSLR type cameras. So I was going to pass over the 10 just to buy the 20. Thx, that is a very helpful video. I agree, the optimum in exposure would be a mix of both, S10 sometimes is a little too bright (thus I'm mostly using Pro mode where you can configure) and the darker S20. What's bad about future is, that with bigger sensors, because of optical physics, focus will become more critical and to avoide unsharp picture corners the lenses of phone will have to improve

@@znnt6727 Skin smoothness yes, but don't know any Galaxy S / Note that can adjust skin tone. Latest S21 line is more natural though. This test is completely outdated, as S/Note 10 series got OneUi 3.1 update including S20 cam app with noticeably changes in HDR with more/ better pic contrast. Selfies are good but still little asian style bright skin tendency

Good comparison. I totally agree. I must admit preferring a lot of the hydynamic photos from the s10 over the 20. Foreground looked to dark on the s20 and even so it still didn't control the highlights as well. I know they tonnes it down to reduce noise which was a problem on the s10 but only pixel peepers would appreciate this.

The high exposure at dark areas on S10 occurs because of the aperture size, which can go up to f/1.5 so it allows more light to pass through the lens.

Honestly I liked S 10 most - with S20 & S21 we have problems with focus when taking a close range photo & those phones struggle to focus sometimes. S10 didn't have this problem & it was able to take a picture of raindrops falling. I feel S20 camera a bit worse for common daily use than S10 and it is sad. I was even thinking about returning to my S10.

It made me think again about upgrading my s10+ I was already crying about the loss of headphone jack, and now I better understand the differences between the cameras, I sortof agree that the s10 camera is better in several aspects. Now while the S21 has a better camera again, the loss of SD card slot is a deal-breaker. So now, I plan to hang on to my old S10+ for another few years.

I took some epic photos w my Galaxy S10! I upgraded to the Galaxy S20 Ultra & I like it, but wonder if it was worth the money. I don't dislike the S20, it's a good phone; fast & it takes good pictures & video. But I noticed right away that it takes darker images, on average, and I have to photo shop many shots to add light. If something happened to my S20 & I had to replace it, I would seriously consider going back to the S10. Beside the factors I just mentioned, I miss having a headphone jack!

Thanks for the video. I was thinking about making the switch from the S10 to the S20 and almost pulled the trigger but decided against it since there just is not enough difference to justify the cost. There is an S21 right around the corner, maybe I'll go for that one instead. Just a word on your English: Videography is not video graphy. The word is one word pronounced vide (ah) graphy as opposed to vide (oh) graphy. The O sound changes to ah when words are combined. Just thought I would share that knowledge Don't ask me why it does, I don't know. I think whomever made the rules for words thought ah sounds better verses oh or it is more pleasing to the ear. Lithography is another example lith(ah)graphy

Thanks for the video. The S20's pictures do present more highlight blow outs and black crush. Also, pictures on the S20 are darker because of the aperture size (less light passes through some of the S20's lenses). I cannot attest to which one as better color accuracy. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your comparison video, it is exactly what I was looking for since I'm still hesitating between the S10 and S20 ^_^ I was wondering if you could help me by answering my question? I have the opportunity to get a new phone for a very low price, so the higher cost of the S20 isn't really an issue for me. I'm upgrading from a mid-range Huawei phone that I've had for years so it would be a huge upgrade either way, which is why I'm hesitating a bit... I take a lot of concert photos and videos, so I'm tempted to go for the S20 since I like the look of the low light pictures you took a lot more, especially since you mentioned the lower noise levels in low light conditions. Would you say the S20 is a better fit for me, then? ^^ Thank you, have a good day/evening!

If low-light is considered then it's worth to look towards the S20 but you might want to look into other phones also. Huawei P40 Pro will outperform Samsung in low-light. There is also an iPhone 11 Pro (not sure how it compares - I haven't tested it yet) so you might want to make a little research. Hope it helps! :)

I remember the P30 pro being praised for its telephoto and digital zoom capabilities but I don't know how well these would work in low light? Do its camera capabilities in general still hold up compared to the ones on newer phones? It's an older phone too and I'm a bit on the fence about getting another Huawei after the problems I've had with my current phone.

I have s10 and don't really see any major improvements to upgrade. Even though S20 is downgraded in some aspects like it is missing a headphone jack(3.5mm), heart rate sensor and the sp O2 sensor used to measure heart rate and blood oxygen level respectively. And I like the design of s10 more.

Will purchase it tomorrow. So please know that every second of your hard work, all of your EVIDENT expertise AND honest discerning comparison of the two, PLUS the great camera work FINALLY and conclusively helped me achieve 10000% certainty that that the s10 is the best choice. A major major gift For many reasons! Like many, I am on a limited income.(as someone...at 72...and retired). But it's intended for a community project (which will require a camera and video to help people share their stories). And since close to my heart I would pay more than can afford if believed camera would be far superior in achieving goals. So I hope you can imagine my relief when your video provided such compelling evidence that the s20 offered no substantial impovements that would justify the price... and even some areas s10 is superior. And I was pretty sure it was a good choice...but this left no doubt and I now have peace of mind So thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks a million for this . U have s10 and to me its d BEST fon . But I have only 128gb I need more space hence the need for upgrade. But finding it difficult to know which 2 go for . Definitely not going for the s20 now

I recently upgraded to the S20 and for some reason I thought the S10 had a better camera. You just confirmed what I suspected. Although the main reason I upgraded was to have a 5G phone....I agree with everything you saying.
