Samsung Galaxy S10 (+) vs Note 9: In-Depth Camera Test Comparison

In this video, I conduct a camera comparison and review of the new 2019 Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus triple camera system. I put the camera head to head with the Note 9. I analyze side-by-side direct comparisons of images shot in various lighting conditions ranging from ideal, great lighting to poor, low lighting that required each phone to utilize their dual apertures and switch to their f/1.5 aperture modes. I take a look at the dual front facing camera of the S10 and compare it to the single selfie camera of the Note 9. I look at portrait mode and how they compare on each phone. Samsung calls this feature Live Focus, and now on the S10 there are different effects like zoom, spin, and color point where the background becomes black and white. I also take a look at the 4K video of both phones and also compare the microphone qualities of both phones by analyzing the audio. I was shocked by the improvements in image stabilization on the new S10s.

True Note series is whole different league than the S series not even close. But I can tell in camera stand point S10+ has minor changes but not a big deal only ultra wide angle is a big deal tho since it has a lot of versatility in taking pictures.

Seems to me that the only truly compelling reasons to get an S10 coming from an S9 (as far as cameras go I guess) would be the ultrawide array, the improved image stabilisation, and HDR10 recording. Oh, and the doubling of the DRAM size allowing for twice the amount of super slow motion, of course; I'm one of the few to whom that'd actually be a big deal, haha.

This was really interesting. Is it possible to choose the level of HDR in the S10? Because for some of the images, most notably the museum shot with the pillars (which I know you preferred, sorry) I thought the HDR looked heavy-handed and there was tell-tale haloing between the roof and the sky. If that could be turned down a bit it'd be good.

Finally a great vid comparing these 2 phones. Thanks. I noticed better sound on the Note 9. I’m watching this on my Samsung TV. I’m also looking at getting one of these since my iPhone 8+ is about paid off. I mainly consume media & Notes on my phone. I love stereo speakers, big screens. This will be a big upgrade for me, since I’ll be leaving Apple after having iPhones for years. My last Galaxy was the S2 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have been shooting in Pro Mode since the S7 Edge and love it. But after updating my Note 8 I found that there is no pro mode available any more in Video Just the ability to select 15 standard filters and the option to install more. Does the S10 have this option?

I was surprised the S10 selfie cam went to an F1.9 aperture. Seems like the F1.7 with some software tweaks would have been better for low-light, no? And honestly, the S10 selfie camera doesn't pick up more details. It just does less smoothing in software. The Note 9 with the Gcam mod has insanely sharp and detailed selfies. On par with the Pixel 3. And the dynamic range is significantly improved. That's what I use. Oh and one more thing. There is an automatic Night Mode on the S10 if you have Scene Optimizer turned on, although it's nowhere near as good as the one on the Pixel 3, but Gcam port fixes that.

Night shots at 7:48 onwards, the S10+ pointed at less of the brighter sky (and of more darker earth) will lead the phone's auto exposure to compensate by raising the exposure, hence the expected slightly brighter results.

Check the video of S10+ from 5.57 to 6.02 on the left hand corner on the grass. The phone is making digital corrections and there is some kind of disturbance. Note 9 shows the scene the ways it is.

You can use panorama. Also the in display scanner is not going to be as good as the physical scanner(though it has gotten better through updates). The note seems like a better option since the s pen is going to be much harder to replicate than wide angle lens.

The S10 does have a night mode. It's in the scene optimizer settings. It's an automatic setting, but when it kicks in, it looks 10x better in the dark than without scene optimization.

@@KJHardrict I figured you did have it on, that's why the S10 looks so much brighter on the night pictures. It's not a true "night sight" like Pixel, but it does take longer and make you hold still while it processes. At least that's how it's working on mine.

The New Samsung A80 is one the first Samsung devices to go more than 20 megapixels since they had a Samsung camera phone when they released in the s4 days.

Im still undecided? BUT??? Not trying to knock the reviews... This was very informative. Great Job! What No reviewer ever talks about when pushing the S-10 over the Note9. (Just talking cameras here) They always mention how great the new wide angle shot capability is on the S-10. That you just can't get from the Note9.... Correct me if I'm wrong? * isn't there still a thing called (Panorama) on All high end phones? Some low end too for that matter... they just don't do as well....or as fast... * Yes i know you would have to change modes to use Panorama on the Note9, but on the S-10 wouldn't you have to manually change the mode to Wide angle anyway? Or is every picture taken in all modes and you choose later? Either way, for the times i wish i had a wider angle. Panorama has served me well... and can go as wide or narrow as i want.. These are and will always be just phone cameras. Not DSLR'S Btw....I'm still sporting a Note8.... looking to upgrade my Wife's phone to either Note9 or S-10 Once a Note Always a Note.....(for me) But the Wife never had one so I don't force it on her.... lol

I’m coming from an iPhone 8+ but thinking of purchasing one of these phones. I know the S10 plus has the better overall camera, and the image stabilization is superior. But for some dam reason, I like the Note 9 better. Which makes no sense. And then I see a few others also agree with me on my odd pick. Very strange.

I understand you! Now I have the Note8 and I'm considering buying the Note9 512 GB variant for the same price as the S10+ 128 GB. I use the s-pen and I like the screen... not only that it doesn't have a hole but is more squareish at the corners. For my personal taste, it looks better!

Viorel Ianasi I ended up snagging a brand new Ocean Note 9 off the Bay for $550. In the weeks time I’ve had, it has been fun to play around and customize. The camera is better than I thought, especially with the pro mode. Download speeds are extremely fast. In my opinion, a brand new Note 9 for $550 (all day long off the Bay) vs. a new Note 10 plus $1100 is a no brained. 2 Note 9’s worse case scenario! Lol✌️
