Got my s20+ last week and I'm loving it. For me, it's the perfect size (one-handed usage and still a large phone) and perfect weight. The camera is still amazing, even if not as advanced as the Ultra, but it's more than sufficient for me. Colour and resolution of on-screen image is sharp and high quality. One thing I still have to get used to, is the new location of the volume buttons - I keep going to the left hand side out of habit, but eventually you get used to it. My only personal regret is not getting the 512GB version. Thanks for making this comprehensive review.

Got a refurbished s20 plus 3 weeks ago. £205 is insane for what you get. It is like new. Still one of the highest resolution screens out there. 120hz too but only at around 2k display so still great. Hardly any bezel. It's still really quick. 12gb ram. Camera can still compete with newer phones. Major zoom and can film in 8k! Micro SD availability. Samsung support til 2025 i believe. 5G too

Great review. I'm 49yrs old & always had iPhone's. I have the Note 10+ and love it. (My 1st Android) Even though it has 2 minor scratches on the Display. Not sure how. I treat my phones like babies. I'm not sold on the "Best scratch resistant Display or glass claims." My iphone 8+ is yrs old & I have nothing on it. It's a beautiful clean phone. This Note has been outdoors on a wooden porch & never dropped. Just odd. The one issue I have is watching movies or videos outdoors in the sunlight. You cannot see anything! You have to find a shady spot & maybe you'll be able to see the movie. One thing I had no issues with on my later model iPhone's. I love this Unicorn Beetle Pro Case that I've had this Note in since it was new.

I didn't buy the S-20+ for the camera, but for making and taking calls and the battery life and I love that and have left the phone off charger for three days and it still had over 50 percent of battery life on it.

Great, other than the fingerprint comment. A scratch over the fingerprint scanner doesn't alter the security of the device whatsoever. You can match a fingerprint accurately with as little as 20% of the finger. A scratch won't do anything to alter this.

Potential buyers with special interest in the performance of the cameras on this phone should understand the actual optical zoom is 1.08 so the focal length of the actual lens is basically the same as the non-zoom camera. This is unlike say the S10 5G which the actual lens of the camera is 2X. However Samsung makes up for this by using a 64MP sensor. This basically results in as good or better zoom shots up to about 5X zoom than a phone with a tele-camera with a 2X or 3X optical zoom lens but only a 12MP or 16MP sensor. But to say the phone uses digital zoom above 3X is incorrect, it is ALWAYS using digital zoom on the telephone camera. The reason why it performs well can be explained by considering number of sensor pixels used decreases by the zoom factor squared when using digital zoom. So, the lowest zoom of the tele lens on the S20+ at 3X is essentially a 7MP sensor. 3 squared is 9. 64MP divided by 9 is 7.1MP. (You may be wondering, if you are always cropping the sensor than what's the point? The 64MP sensor is primarily to provide 8K video recording capability.) Compared to say the S10 5G which has a 2X optical zoom and 12MP sensor. So a 3X zoom for the S10 5G is a 1.5X digital zoom of the 2X optical. 1.5 squared = 2.25. 12MP/2.25 = 5.3MP. So you can see how the S20+ can keep up with other cameras with 2X or 3X optical zoom but only 12MP sensors. It's notable though that with 2X zoom, a camera with a 12MP sensor and a 2X optical zoom has a higher resolution image than the S20+ at 2X zoom since the S20+ doesn't have an optical zoom lens. What's more interesting is the 64MP sensor on the S20+ has a 0.8um pixel pitch which means the sensor is roughly 9,500 pixels by 7,150. So at 3X zoom the sensor output is going to be digitally cropped to around 3,160 x 2,380. However no matter what zoom resolution you use, Samsung outputs a 4032x3024 size image, basically "faking" the resolution for all images taken at anything over 1X zoom. The file size goes down as the zoom goes up even though the image resolution stays at 4032x3024 because the JPEG compression algorithm basically can see it's a fake resolution (essentially a lower resolution source image interpolated up to a higher resolution.) I'm not sure why manufacturers do this except for only from a customer satisfaction perspective as people would be complaining why their 10X zoom images are only 950 x 715 pixels. Yes, S20+ users, that is roughly the true resolution of a 10X zoom image from your phone. But consider on a 12MP sensor with 1X optical lens, that true cropped resolution is closer to 400x300! The bottom line is the S20+ Tele Camera is basically equivalent in resolution to a phone with a 12MP camera with a 2.5X optical zoom because it's not actually an optical zoom lens. So Samsung's advertising it as a 3X "hybrid optic zoom" isn't a total lie, but 2.5x would be closer to accurate as far as the equivalent of an optical zoom on a 12MP sensor. To get the best images on this camera you just want to use one of the 3 cameras without manually zooming in. If you do zoom in on the tele camera, try to not go above 5X.

They have RCS messaging, which will essentially be the iMessage for Android. There is also Windows integration, so you can text from your PC (as long as you are on the same wifi). Unfortunately not everyone has RCS messaging yet, so you may not experience the benefits until it is more widely adopted

I've been a iPhone user since the start but due to me getting extremely annoyed with Apple ( a long story ) I got the S20+ on the release day. Since then it has been a battle to stop myself from throwing it against the wall and smashing it to pieces. The screen, great. The battery life, great. Camera, great. That's where any positivity ends. The finger print sensor? Well... I'm ready to smash the thing even before I get to that part. Double tap the screen to wake it up? Maybe... after several attempts. Now I just fumble around for the side button as it's much quicker. Now we get to the fingerprint sensor. Yep, several attempts and I give up and just dial my code. This is after reprogramming it several times. If your hands are a bit sweaty or you've been working and your fingers are just a little bit dusty, don't bother even trying. My old phone, a 6s, press one button and you are up. On this thing, activating it sometimes takes longer than my actual call. This is a clear case of fashion taking priority over function. I knew that the Android Os is a dogs breakfast but I only want it to make phone calls and listen to music. How hard can it be? Well....as a phone, sending smoke signals might be a better alternative. So far, I'll be kind and say 50% off my calls I've had to do in 2 or 3 sessions as it keeps on dropping out. Last night I was on the phone for 2 hours trying to comfort a friend who was having trouble coping with this pandemic and I had to call back 6 times. this is at home where I never had this problem before and it doesn't matter if it has a cover or is bare assed. As a MP3 player? Well, I was misinformed that I can download iTunes. You get Apple Music which I cannot get to play my legally owned music and have to pay for the privilege. The real problem is that I live in a remote area and I have no internet connection while working. No problem, you can download the files and play them off line. Not on this phone. I spent a day downloading files to replicate my existing library. All great. Except the next time I launch Apple Music, All my files have the cloud symbol next to them requiring me to download them again. From release date to this day, I have not got one song on this thing that I can play off line. I have tried every idea on the web to get this to work to the point that Apple deleted my posts from the Apple Forum. I wanted a phone and a music player and ended up with a camera with long battery life and a small tv to watch KZbin on. I'm an ex professional photographer so I don't use this for taking pictures as I have much better equipment for that. Since I only have connection at home, I watch KZbin on my 70 inch screen. So what did I get for my money? I'm currently downloading a series of Android MP3 players to see if any are useable. But this won't solve my drop out issue. It looks like I'll be cutting my losses and getting rid of this joke and selling my soul back again to the Apple demon.

Great review, just curious why everyone is so sad about the headphone jack being taken off when the USB type C port does the same thing. I mean you still have a wired connection so I don't see the big deal!!!! Maybe it's just me.............

RCS or rich communication services has come to the US both on Google messages and Samsung messages. So you can get read receipts, typing notifications, ability to send large media etc. Now it won't work with iMessage (thanks apple) but it will work with anyone who has RCS enabled.

I have the S20+ for almost a month now. I love everything about the phone except for the volume button being on the right so close to the power button. It's harder to do the controls, I prefer it on the left side like previous S phones. Other then that its 👍😍

This was the best review on S20 plus. At the store, there was no mention of the lack of headphone jack. No phone jack means can't use phone for online music in car👎. Tried the wireless connector a few years back, and the sound from my speakers was not right. Hated it.

It is crazy that they don't include an adapter in the box now that you mention it... I think the expectation is that someone willing to spend $1400 on a phone is the kind of person who is willing to go all out with tech and is very likely to use wireless earbuds.

@@MikeOBrienMedia I have the seinheiser hd1 over ears and I find better quality of audio better with the cord then without. You always lose quality wirelessly not much but it's noticeable also in Canada the s20 ultra is $1900 it should come with a dongle in gold 😂
