Watching this on my Note 20 Ultra and I must say, while I'm grabbing the S22 Ultra, the S22+ is definitely the phone to get if you don't care about the S-pen's note features

Interestingly enough, if I trade in my Note 20 Ultra to Samsung during pre-order, I can get the S22 Ultra for slightly less than the S22+ (due to a greater trade-in value on Ultra-for-Ultra versus Ultra-for-Plus). So if I upgrade I feel like the smart play is to go for the S22 Ultra though the Plus is more than capable for my needs.

Watching this on my own S22 plus, and honestly it's exceeded my expectations. I also think something that is understated by reviews is just how much nicer this feels in the hand over the S21. Also the real glass back on the s22 vs the plastic on the s21. The specs might not have been a huge improvement but the overall phone just feels so much more polished and solid. I also never liked the two tone camera bump personally, and this new green color is gorgeous. Thanks for the always solid review, David!

@@ColinCreighton it's been good overall, but not amazing. Yesterday specifically was pretty harsh on it too. I was outside most of the day with screen at max brightness (and this thing gets BRIGHT), full 120 refresh rate and recorded 4k video for about 20 minutes straight which does drain a lot of battery. Still got about 5 hours of screen on time and it got down to 5% at around 10pm. Right now I'm sitting at 83% after 1.5 hours of screen on time. If you don't record a lot of video and are not blasting the screen at full brightness all the time, you should get almost a day and half of battery life.

The notion of taking out a new phone with a new battery and expecting realistic details is just not real. Samsung phones like every other phone takes atleast 2 possible 3/4 weeks to give you real battery life patterns. And it really depends on what you use it for. Solid camera and video use and you’ll get nothing more than 5.5 /6 hrs screen on time. Less camera use and you’ll get 6-7.5 hours but it’ll take a few weeks to bed in.

I'm looking to upgrade from my S7 in 2023 once I see what the S23 series are like, and how expensive they are. If my S7 died today, I think I can get a decent price on a Qualcomm version of the S23+ here in Australia.

I'm having trouble deciding if I want to go for ultra or 22+. I have the note 20ultra but I'm kind tired of the edges always breaking. Saw the 22+ at t-mobile and honestly it looks pretty good. I'm digging the flat screen better. They're offering me 1k for my note. So if u get the 22+ is pretty much free and if I get the Ultra is 200 out of pocket..

I had the s20 and always regretted not getting the plus version. I picked up the S21 ultra a week before the s22 series was coming out as all rumors said the new ones would be much more. So once pricing was announced I returned it and pre ordered the S22 ultra 256gb directly from Samsung. I must say the new " Note 22 ultra " is freaking amazing. Not a huge upgrade from the S21 ultra mind you but a very nice phone.

I had the s22 plus and I sent it back. I don't know... The battery was just not lasting as I thought it would. That's cuz I set everything to lower settings, deleted apps, set apps to background restrictions, set battery saver settings to help, and even set the phone to ONLY connect to 4G LTE and I would hardly be on it... And still it drained. I didn't know what else to do. So I sent it back. Awesome phone! Love the software and the cameras but I might have gotten a defective phone. I'll probably try and get it again later on in the year

The s22plus is a bit wider than the s21plus. On the other hand, in the PHILIPPINES they went ahead and used a snapdragon chipset rather than the exynos with the 22 series, this is a great move as people here often complaining about the exynos processor. PS, I miss my s21 plus.

I had the s22u and the s22+. Both had horrible battery life especially when I wanted to use the camera for family outings. 3-4 hrs SOT and wasn’t even pushing the camera. Loved both but just couldn’t keep them with that battery

I appreciate your review but almost nobody gives a fair battery life review. I doubt most people are playing 30 minutes of Genshin Impact or recording 15 minutes of 4k/8k video on a daily basis. I'm more inclined to believe I'll end the day with 30% than I am to believe I'll end the day with 7%, and most reviewers put the phone through strenuous tests & use cases that simply don't apply to average day to day use.

Does the s22 & s22+ have better processing than the ultra? The colors look a little better to my eyes and there seems to be far less clipping on the stills than the ultra had. S21 has better red reproduction (here 6:26) though. Maybe an update can fix that.

@@lakkadbagga well my husband got the ultra and I have the s22+. I am coming from the s20+, so i am used to the Samsung ui and it isn't a gigantic upgrade for me..other than the screen being flat and not having expandable memory. my husband's phone is just too big for me..don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful phone and the display on the ultra is incredible, but I can't see myself using it bc of the size. the rectangular design is much less easier to hold than the design of the regular s22 models. the display is crisp on the s22+, and it feels very good. much more of a premium feel than my s20+. my husband was using the s-pen for a little while yesterday, but I myself, wouldn't see myself using it. if I was an artist or always writing stuff down, then maybe, but I don't do either of those lol 😂😆. the camera is great on the ultra, but it's also great on the plus model too. if you have big hands and you see yourself using the s-pen, then go for the ultra...but I have small hands and the s22+ is a perfect size for me! I can't vouch for the battery life just yet, but my s20+ would die very fast on me and I can see that the battery isn't draining as fast on this phone. its a tossup, but ultimately, the size, camera, and s-pen are the real determining factors between the two. for me, I can do without all of those and I'm perfectly good with the s22+ features!

@@stevem4829 It's a great phone. The battery runs out aprox after 1,5 day of use. But that said, the S20 Plus is in my opinion a better choice. The screen is in higher resolution, the camera starts up faster, takes better pictures and feels quicker to focus. It is also thinner than the S22 Plus. So if you can, I would buy a S20 Plus 🙂

How’s the battery really like on this ?? I used the s21 for a couple weeks and the battery was pretty bad. Decided to go back to my iPhone 13 pro max . I ended up trying the note 20 ultra. And again the battery is pretty bad. I got home one day without charging with like 20 percent. And I got home around 4pm which is a short day for me. Usually I work from 8-7pm and with the iPhone I don’t charge it until I go to sleep which reads about 15-20 percent on the iPhone. Lowkey wanting to sell my note 20 ultra and getting the s22+ because it does seem to have a similar build to the latest iPhones. But I won’t if the battery is bad on it too

But not that bad since for me no phone ever can satisfy the battery life aspect for me. I don't mind to carry a powerbank with me.
