I've got the S22 too. The 8k recording is great, but i guess nobody will use it unless you're trying to do a semi-professional video shoot. 4k will do just fine. But it's good to see the phone can handle it in such a small form factor. Samsung did great!

This looks amazing on the Samsung S20U and Crystal 70" TV as well as my Dell laptops with the resolution forced to max in YT. But on my Tab S7+, when you pan faster the video gets an annoying jitter to it. Around 4:10 I really notice it on the building in the background no matter what I force the res to, including 720, because of the lower frame rate. I'll have to play it on my S22U when it gets here tomorrow.

Part of the jitter is because at 24fps, if you pan any distance you're going to have things that jump from frame to frame. This is why most filmmakers would use an ND in bright daylight, to reduce shutter speed as close to 1/50 as possible, which would blur those pans and reduce jitter. 60fps (4K on this phone) can help, but it's always going to be a similar problem. Without ND filters to reduce the shutter speed, pans have to be slower or they will all stutter like this.

For this, a better sense of quality in this video might have been to set it down at some point, to see what it looks like when the sensor is just taking in a still shot (one way to do this as a viewer is set KZbin to 8k and pause the video every so often to see the quality of the frame)

@@SamuelWebster I have learned a lot about ND filters in the past year. Except for my S23 Ultra, every camera I have has a full set of ND filters. I did a hyper lapse with my DJI Mini 3 Pro and a Freewell ND2000 to make the motion blur very pronounced. I just posted it to my channel yesterday.

I wtached it on my 8K monitor and I selected the 8K option from the KZbin settings menu. I found the 4K is more smoother then 8K. I have not tested my S22U with 8K, but your video gives me a very good idea of how it would perform.

So is it similar to the note 20 ultra where they only let you record a set time then? I heard that something popped up when you went towards 5 minutes. I know with my note it's set time is 5 minutes 2 seconds.

At 5 minutes it just warns you that phone might overheat. But it kept on recording. I stopped it myself around 7 minutes

I'm not sure if it's KZbin or if the raw was like this too but when panning from right to left causes very bad jitter. At 3:35-3:40, the building in the back was very jittery.

Can't say on my 4k monitor there's much diff between 8 and 4, if you record properly in 4. and 4k modes like Pro Res and high bitrate resolutions probably are better for color depth but sharpness is excellent in 8, and on a phone? not bad. thing is, most folks watch on a phone, and most phones do not go more than 1080. so yeah, but why? 8K video is very good if you can watch it in 8K. Any jitters is bad camera operator fault not the phone. A lot more people have 8k screen than you think.
