I was excited to get this phone and swap out of my Notr S10 plus. But while I was at the store I then discovered that the phone I was looking at only had a 128 gigs of space. And that there was no way of adding expanded memory with an SD card. That immediately made the phone garbage to me. I have half a terabyte worth of data on my current phone. WTF am I gonna do with this garbage "22 ULTRA" The phone is already humongous, There is no way that they didn't have enough space to put in the SD card slot reader.

With a good quality flat and flexible usbc cable and the right card reader (some sd readers come with usbc by default, no adapter needed) It shouldn't be difficult to strap the card onto the back. Cases could be 3D printed with a slot for it to fit into flush.

Your comment at first gave me a brilliant idea, but the only issue is that the port can only act either as a charger or as a data reader, therefore, I'd need to create a phone case in which you can slide off/turnoff the sd card when the phone is on the charge; Another alternative to it, is to have a slim case, and use the port completely just for data reading, and charge your phone via the wireless charger (samsung offers a great fast wireless charger that I currently use). .... Thats some food for thought....I will follow back with you later, maybe.

Samsung now really sucks by removing one of the most important features on any phone. Storage is top priority for users. If it can't be expanded they hv to, at minimum, make it a 512GB storage device. The 1TB version is basically non existent. It can't really be found in any market.

If you want to put Fortnite on your SD just go into "Developer Options" in your setting an select "force allow apps to external".. Hope that helps👍..

I wasn't sure if this was satire or not. I mean, I'm thinking about people who are upset about the loss of the SD Card slot. Obviously this is not a solution for them/us. But, I suppose if you had some kind of situation where you really needed to access a sd card this is better than nothing. Its weird how Samsung slowly but surely is giving me less and less reasons to keep buying Galaxy phones. At this point, Apple is doing almost everything better but Samsung still had all of these cool features. Not anymore though. Samsung is removing the things that made it unique. I still care about that SD Card slot. Once the stylus becomes a separate item that is merely supported, I will switch to the iPhone.

Same. They say that phones are supposed to improve as time goes on. All I'm seeing are reductions in quality. What am I supposed to do with a phone that doesn't even have the ability to transport mass data instantaneously? I treat my phone like my own personal super computer and data storage device. These new phones they're just pretty, they have nice cameras but they're not practical. If you travel all across the country and sometimes the world like me you don't have access to good Internet your data doesn't work. You want to have storage space on you. When I'm in the middle of butt f*** nowhere I don't want to be f****** around with dongles and attachments when all that stuff should be built into the $2000 phone.

I just had to buy a new phone after my Note 20 Ultra died. Rather than getting the new S22 Ultra, I just got another Note 20 because it was the best phone I ever owned. The deciding point was the micro SD card slot bc I download a lot of PSP iso files that are pretty large onto my phone.

I almost broke my note 10 plus and how to get it repaired. So I was looking at S22 ultras thinking that they would be similar to the note series. The fact that these phones don't even have an SD card slot reader made me cancel my decision to buy that phone. Can you read and/or write directly to/from the external drive? For example, can you set the external drive to record a video or picture to directly rather than basically doing a copy/cut and paste to the external drive? Can you play a game directly off the external drive or do you have to reinstall it on the phone for it to work?

NO!! But yes also. Android Doctor is just playing it safe (no offense). The simple fact is that the "Evo" line of Samsung memory devices are some of the best Samsung makes. And because Samsung makes some of the best memory devices on the market from RAM to thumb drives to Solid State Drives, this makes them some of the best/fastest drives on the market. So yes, an "Evo" brand SD card SHOULD be better. But NOT because it is more compatible due to them both being made by Samsung. It is simply going to be a better/faster memory device than most other brands because it is inherently better and faster. If you researched the specs on an "Evo" SD card and purchased another brand with the same, or faster specs, it will work just as well or better than an "Evo." But compatibility will NOT be a factor when determining how well it works. In fact, if you found another brand with the exact same specs, there is a good probability it is actually a Samsung Evo with another manufacturer's name on it. This can often save you money. There are only about a half dozen or so actual manufacturers of memory devices. The rest are just 3rd parties that re-brand a product made by one of the primary manufacturers. A good example of this is SanDisk thumb drives and Micro SD cards. They are no longer made by SanDisk, they are made by Western Digital. And if you buy a memory device made by either brand with the exact same specs, it will work exactly the same. So if one is cheaper, buy the cheaper one because it is exactly the same.

Sadly my note 8 that i got in 2017 just died because its not getting the VoLTE menu. Sadly nothing I've done has resolved that. So now I have to replace it. Its interesting, almost questionable, timing for it to happen. Though I'd have been more suspicious that it was intentional if it was just after the full release of the S23 not a month before unless its to help clear stock of the S22 at the higher prices. I had a micro sd card in my amazon cart and happened to realize ALL the new phones dont have a slot of them. This IMO is so unacceptable but we are clearly powerless to do anything about it. They are pushing for us to spend more money on phones with the higher built in memory, or to pay monthly for a cloud service. That also makes it easier for the pics to be reviewed by others. Someone would make alot of month if they made a case with a usb c splitter in it or a micro sd card in it that plugs into the phones port and still gives you a usb c port that allows for fast charging.

Or are you trying to sync your phone with that many pictures on it to your PC? I have a similar amount of pictures on the Micro SD card on my phone (150GB+) and it takes like 10 minutes to sync it with my very fast PC. But if I remove the Micro SD card and pop it directly into my computer it only takes about 1 minute to view all my pictures and just a few seconds to open pictures I just took. That is why I dread the idea of not having a removable Micro SD card for pictures. I don't want to wait 10 minutes every time I want to copy just 1 picture from my phone to my PC by syncing it.
