Samsung used to have two different version of same phone with different specification. for example, Galaxy S3 3G and LTE. LTE version have 1GB more of ram. S4 and S4 LTE-A S4 is with exynos 5 series octa core and LTE-A version with snapdragon 800 and the S5 and broadband LTE-A S5 suppprts 150MHz of LTE-A and broadband LTE-A version supports 225MHz. also 1gb more of ram and higher resolution.

Mike I upgraded from Samsung Tab 8.4 to the newer 8.4 Tab S and can no longer view mp4 videos recorded from my Go Pro camera. Man, I can't believe Samsung didn't upgrade that phones shell! When I look at the GS5 next to the LG G3, the GS5 looks and feels cheap! This has been a complaint for awhile about Samsung phones. It's time for Samsung to stop the cost cutting with cheap materials and render a nice polished aluminum piece for the masses..just my $.02

I really don't get why would anyone need qHD on displays that are under 5.3". On tablets, monitors and TVs it is actually useful, while on smartphones(not phablets) anything beyond 1080p is just wasteful, for you can't even make out everything with your bare eye on a 1080p, so a 1440p will just waste your battery and performance when rendering all the unneeded pixels. To summarize, a display featuring beyond 1080p on a screen below 5.3" is simply a gimmick.

You need them because Samsung has gutted the AMOLED technology by introducing the Pentile matrix that uses only two, not three subpixels per pixel. To hide it, the subpixels have been rearranged to so called "diamond matrix" to fool the human eye, but if you come from RGB stripe display to Pentile, you will notice the degradation of quality - blotchy, grainy colors, dithering-like effects on shades of cyan, purple and pink, banding, very similar to cheap TN monitors. If you bring brightness down, the problems become more pronounced To hide these defects, Samsung needs to ramp up the resolution. 1920x1080 pentile is inferior to 1920x1080 RGB, how much inferior depending on what type of image you display. If you displayed an image using only shades of red or blue, the actual resolution would be 960x540... with ugly black spaces between small red dots, resembling an old newspaper picture. Not so hot, eh? So to obtain a picture with similar clarity (never mind the color errors you won't get rid off), you need at least 2k resolution on the phone. Of course, you need an extra powerful GPU to render 3d images on such a large display, so that's another drawback.

Oh my god, guys, i did some quick-check, the regular S5 (octa version) consumes about 40% less battery than the s5 prime!!! Also think, the regular s5 had all crap features on, mails, hangout, etc (and apps installed...) yet regular s5 is on same speed with all those functions on, and s5 prime (quad edition) is brand new configured, still it consumes ALOT of battery, snd sucks up cpu power to render 1440p resolution holy shit. On my s5, my battery holds about 6 hours (nfc, bluetooth, etc all off), s5 prime is shit.. the extra 1gb ram is not neccesary, it will reserve 1.5gb to system, and 200-300mb to some a-must-running-apps, in result, u get only around 200 - 300mb more ram than regular s5 to use (my old s3 is 1gb ram, i can use 300mb if i do a hard-hibernation with greenify, else if i install viber, whatsapp fb fb-messenger etc, all the ram gets sucked up!! It lags afterwards fkng a lot). On my s5 now, even if i install those apps, the s5 tries to balance ram usage at 1,15gb/1.87gb ram, even if u install crap on phone lol, when i play gangstar vegas, it consumes ~350mb ram, after i close app, i see ram usage arund 700mb/1.87gb ram, and slowly it adds up neccesary system apps to get in phone etc bla bla nvm guys u got it In short, s5 prime not worth. 1) ~40% worser battery 2) Unnecesary 1440p screen, its not even possible to see difference over 720p - 1080p quality on a 5.1 inch phone. 3) SM-G900F model have same features almost, download booster example, LTE-A dual band, dual-band wifi etc, so its not worth to get s5 prime. All it gives is less battery life, and more ram.

The camera is as good ( better in my opinion) as the g3 and on the ui you'll find that 75% are things the TW ui already has ( Lg 'borrows' most TW ui features). I say, if you have no problem with the looks and you're a practical person go for the gs5!
