Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite vs. Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) - Which is Better?

For $280 I bought the SM-P205 (Galaxy tab A with S pen) and it has a full HD screen, also 3gb ram (but only 32G storage), and 4G-LTE. Seems like a better option than these others if you can afford it

I was first bummed by the ban on Apps being moved to SD cards due to some US lawyers. So the SD card is for data only (video, photos, music, docs) But I have about 4 games on it, nothing crazy, and most reading (Readly App-Magazines and Newspapers), and most importantly, MS Office (Built in) as well as Google Keep Notes (Now I think just called Keep Notes) which takes anything you throw at it (though I haven't tried PDFs yet). I'm loving the A7 Lite, it does all that I need and I'd hate to say it, beats my regular Ipad on ease of picking it up ,and doing notes or reading.

The last I saw, in "Developer Mode" (q.v.) one can move applications to an external card. I did it, and got worse performance, so I haven't done it since a couple of updates ago.

I still have Tab S2, 8”, 6 years old. Nothing else is Quite as good . Samsung has been going backwards with quality. No more Samsung for me until they improve. They need to make a first quality mini tablet to compete with the iPad Mini

Thanks for posting ... was hoping the A7 Lite would be a step up in performance from the Tab A 8 (2019) I have now, but there doesn't seem to be much improvement. The Tab A is so underpowered it can barely run the software I bought it to run (Studio One remote control). In fact, it's slower than the Tab S2 from years ago! I also have an S7 11" tablet that is buttery smooth and powerful.

Another important comparison is the Tab has a micro USB charging port (my kids damaged there's the first year) and the lite has a type c which is more kid friendly for plugging in the charger.

I just bought a Tab A 8.0 today. Letting it charge for now. I bought this for 95.00 at Walmart, and I am only using this as a substitute for a laptop until I can afford one 6 months to a year from now. It should last that long and hold up well for my needs

Just picked up the. 8.0 inch Tab a 64gb on a presume to be a Amazon lightning deal for $129. It was a good deal but it's beyond my comprehension why or even how samsung would produce a 64gb what otherwise is or to be a solid compact tablet with seriously only 2gs of RAM. A minimum of 3gs of RAM. I didn't like the A7 lite and had the tab a 8.4 not been cellular too which increased the price compared to the deal I got then the tab a 8.4 would have been the best overall choice as it has 3gs RAM like the A7 lite but wins out with a 1080p display. Again this is a classic prime example of samsung. Just flat out poorly executed feature designs simply because they over produced their compact tablet line. If you step back and look or think about it, they have right now as to say 3 compact tab As with very vary slight differences offered at the same time with none of the three being produced with any true thought of common logic and not to be mistaken for common sense which I shall end right there. SAMSUNG DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU ALL TO HAVE REMOTELY ENTERTAINED THE LITERAL MOST LOGICAL WAY TO PRESENT A COMPACT 8 INCH PLUS OR MINUS TABLET TO HAVE BEEN MADE BY PRODUCING AT LEAST ONE LESS OVER PRODUCED MIRROR COPIES THAT YOU CLAIM ARE THREE DIFFERENT MODELS BUT RATHER CONDENSING TO TWO TAB A COMPACT AND PRODUCING EACH WITH ADEQUATE SPECIFICATIONS? CLEARLY NOT AND SADLY NOT EVEN AN OVERSIGHT. SIMPLY PRODUCED WITHOUT ANY LOGICAL THOUGHT EXERCISED OR THERE WOULD IN NO WAY BE THREE 8 INCH TAB A MODELS ALL OF WHICH ARE MISSING ONE OR TWO KEY FEATURES THAT THE OTHER ONE OF THE TWO MODELS HAVE AND VICE VERSE FOR ALL THREE OF THEM. @@FishBeeProductions After I just couldn't accept the 64g 2019 tab a 8.0 to only have 2gs of RAM I did some heavy research and even called Samsung. They even struggled to tell me but ended up telling me 2gigs. I didn't accept it so I did more research and at least the 64gig model does in fact come with 3 gigs of RAM. I cross referenced it by looking at the available RAM left and what was used and indeed it totalled 3gs of RAM. What I don't know is if the 32gig has 3gigs. Samsung didn't even know. I knew something wasn't right. Even in my review on my channel before I posted here which it's my latest upload. Check it out. I questioned the 2gs and I finally got it verified. Does yours have 2gs or 3gs if a 32g? Check out my review if you don't mind. Always liked your channel so I'd be curious to hear what you thought about my unboxing and quick first look review. I have both, A7 is better but Tab A is not that bad actually. I use it for media and reading and casual gaming, and it lasts 2 fkin days! (Not non stop) If your getting your 1st tablet or dont know much about tablets, then I recommend Tab A because it is more compact and easy to bring but if your going for gaming and bang 4 da buck, go for the A7, that said Tab A aint bad. Hope this helps.

I bought the tab a 8.0 2019 for gaming (in 2021) :( it runs minecraft on 8 fps.... my little brother has the a7 lite,it runs on his tablet like 40 to 60 fps... Too bad for me as I play games which needs fast cpu's and more ram... and what's more bad,it's smaller and lags too much when I turn it on. Well, I still thank God that I have a tablet,and my dad will buy me a tablet like the tab s7 after 3 years.. still patient.. (also,it doesn't lag because I have full storage, I have 17 gb left, an ram is clean)

Hello. I only have the Samsung tab a8.0. So far, I'm using it for drawing, online class and watching vids in KZbin. I used it in flipa clip, ibispaint, medibang and infinite painter. Using an old apple pencil, it works well. The negative side of it is that it doesn't really have the best camera... and I think because the specs of the device is not the best, it often lags when using too many layers(ibispaint).

@@ryuugaeisen8946 I use my tablet for gaming and it's tolerable I've had worse but it tends to crash and I rage if you check the video I made it lags so hard in pokemon unite but I changed graphics after medium graphics, 60 fps which runs good so I'd say it's not good it's just unseasoned food that's slightly under cooked (it's just not good) but yea it's fine for *NOW*

@@jacenthegreat9536 I think they're referring to Samsung Free. If you swipe right on your home screen it brings up a content aggregator like latest news, games etc. Comes with Android 11 and One UI 3. I assume the A7 lite will have it then at it is Andoid 11 One UI 3.1 (I think).

I had several apps state that they were not compatible with the tab a7 lite. Less widgets available as well. I don't play kid games on these devices, I don't use the speakers ( they have headphones now) or take videos of pets, so for me the regular tab 8 is better. Okay, so maybe I won't get upgrades as long as the A7 lite, but I can get a 64 g version of the tab 8 for only slightly more than a 32 g A7 lite, with the same amount of ram. I wish I could return my A7 lite, but the window is closed. Happy with the tab A 8.0 , even with the smaller screen.

It's clear enough for reading. For me the mobile YT app is a no go. Geez, too junky. And I couldn't get the video to rotate and open in full screen. Search the toolbar in the NP and the Settings. I got the 64GB one for $100 so I can't complain. Reminds me of a giant phone.

The most important upgrade on the A7 lite is USB-C, slightly better charging. my son has the 8.0 with micro USB and the charging connection is annoying to connect and its slow, compared to my daughter's A7 lite.
