There are quite a few software features about the Razr that all review videos don't mention. The outer screen does in fact auto rotate the display after an update install. I can watch videos with the charger plugged in while laying in bed. Also, Moto has a "quick launch" feature like the flashlight and camera. While having it flipped open, you can double tap the outer display with your index finger to launch any app of your choosing. It will auto suggest your must frequently used app. (In my case tiktok lol)

Has Motorola fixed their bluetooth issue? I really dig the design for the + but the last razr I owned had several issues with bluetooth delays as well as cutting out from very short distances (less than 3 feet). With my Flip 4, I'm able to walk across the gym without losing connection. With the 19 version of the razr, I would have skips and disconnects with the phone literally right next to me. Thanks!

Great video! I own both phones. I keep finding myself leaning back to Razr +. It's just a better outer screen experience. The RAZR plus is just thinner and lighter. I agree with you that the Razr plus is just more fun too. You can't go wrong with either phone. I used both of them as my daily driver for one month each. And I just recently went back to the razor Plus. The two main reasons why the flip five is better is because of the water rating and the camera.

After about 20 vs vids its just too hard to choose Flip 5 or Razr +. Best from Flip 5 is durability compared to Razr+ but Razr+ is just more fun and rounded shape is better to handle and looks better to my eye. Also Flip is too slippery and shiny i think. Stress test also said Razr+ battery is better than Flip 5.

I must say that I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you. More than likely it is because I've owned both of these phones. I bought the Razr + as soon as it came out but then realized that the cover screen was really hard for me to use (I am a boomer after all). The font was so small I couldn't read stuff even with glasses on in some apps and it was so cumbersome to use the cover screen that I would almost always end up opening the phone. So I returned it. Then when the Flip 5 came out I wanted to try a flip phone again. I was almost convinced that I was going to end up returning it as well but I didn't. I kept it and it is one of my phones in rotation. I miss the fun way of the Razr + to turn the flashlight and the camera on (I was a fan since the Moto X days). But I definitely enjoy the Flip 5 a lot more and use the cover (Flex) screen more on it than the Razr +.

The Razr + has a slightly bigger cover screen than the Flip 5. The Razr 2023 has a very small rectangle front screen.

I agree, far too much time spent saying the Samsung has the better camara. The razr doesn't take bad photos, so unless your super picky and want professional pictures the razr is still good. Not the be all and end all for me.

I agree. The razr still takes good pictures. It's not important to me the camara or the always on is a definite no no. Who wants the screen drawing more power with the always on. I have never used that feature on any of my phones.

My main screen won't turn on at all except sometimes and I have to fold it to a certain point to get it to work and only sometimes. But working with Motorola on switching it for a new one since it's only 2 months so since purchase.

The Razr does not record and talley screen time from the external screen. So if you use the outside screen more your screen on time is not accurate. It looks lower than it really is.

You can see total screen on time by going into Digital Wellbeing in settings. It will display overall screen time, both combined

I had a razr 5g until I busted it on the pavement and the camera was just as good as my wife's iPhone XS. I swear in person it's not as bad as it seems. Now that the new tech is in the razr+ I would assume it's better. Not as good as Samsung but def good enough. Plus idk why all these videos act like this is the first razr smartphone this is the 4th gen by now

I prefer the Moto approach to the front screen where you have way more freedom. I guess there's some workarounds with Samsung with good lock. Also prefer the design of Motorola. And I love their desktop mode which is arguably even better than dex. It has native 4K support, a brand new dock with active cooling specifically designed for the desktop (Samsung hasn't released a first party dex accessory since the Note 8). Samsung seems to have the benefit with durability but given that you don't need to open the screen as much with Motorola that helps mitigate that. I probably wouldn't buy either since I just can't get over the crease in these foldables. I know they like to call it ultra thin glass but it's been tested many times and it's scratches exactly like plastic. Without the screen protector on it's still scratches at a level 2.

Ive just upgraded to the moto, i have had samsungs for the past 20 years. Samsunhs are in my opinion are extremely good but the reason i have picked the moto ia because thr past 6 years or so samsung phones are all the just the same, they never seem to do anything fantastically different thses days so ive picked the moto just for a change of phone im bored of samsungs

At the end of the day it's upto the people reference . Both the z flip 5 and razr are good in their own ways. BTW I'm using z flip 5 considering you have 4 yrs of update. And when it comes to os I would prefer the samsung . Only if motorola finesse their os then I would choose the razr but for now I'm using Samsung.

At the end of the day you end up paying the money without getting your money's worth of support. PS it's the durability of a device that matters too.

I don’t get the hype over camera quality. It’s a phone it’s meant to make and receive calls and texts. A camera is meant to take pictures the fact the phone has both means one thing u gotta sacrifice one good thing to get both camera and phone makings at its superior. Or make one not as good as the other. If you are getting a phone to be able to communicate then u shouldn’t complain that the camera isn’t perfect. No phone or camera is perfect. There is no such phone as a perfect phone and that includes apple phones

I actually just got the Pixel 8 Pro, and I've had the Razr+ since it launched back in June. I still prefer using the Razr over the pixel, any day of the week. Only thing it does worse is cameras, everything else is wonderful.

Goes on to talk about the sustainability of the case 🤦 The one plane seat alone was likely responsible for injecting ~350+ lbs of CO2 into the atmosphere roundtrip... assuming the plane was full... which you alluded it probably wasn't... 🤦 Greenwashing is fun! While I get one's time is important... people really have to get beyond this idea that their convenience outweighs sustainability. If a person cares THAT much about time, maybe they should have used a conference call instead, which takes zero minutes of travel and has a negligible environmental impact. In no world should anyone ever fly between LA and SFO, no matter how much of a hellscape of humanity CA's highway system is. A gas car w/ a single passenger getting about 30-45 mpg (depending on how many seats are empty on the plane) will have a comparable environmental impact with a plane seat. Yet with Josh owning an EV that likely gets about 100 mpge, and when paired with the high amount of renewable energy in CA, it's likely only 1/3rd to 1/4th of the carbon footprint of that plane seat, and helps offset the manufacturing emissions used to build the car. Carpooling with 2 passengers would be about 1/6th to 1/8th per person versus per seat on the flight. Hell, could probably even sign us a taxi service between the cities and make a few bucks on the way. Also sustainable and possibly more relaxing would be a bus. An Electric bus would be even better. Albeit busses take longer. Sorry Californian tech bros, just because you speak eloquently, and likely lean left, doesn't preclude you from living sustainably and doing right by the environment. Do better and stop insulting peoples' intelligence with greenwashing silliness. Such a sustainable phone case! Yes, cases should be sustainably produced, but as a percentage of one's environmental impact, I imagine it's at the bottom of the list.

@tu Just saw this. It's a pipe dream because people refuse to even acknowledge it's a thing and work towards it. Comfort and convenience isn't an absolute necessity. While we should seek those things out WHEN POSSIBLE, we shouldn't do so if it's unsustainable. Flying is unsustainable. Do we need to fly so much? Absolutely not. Driving is unsustainable? Do we need to drive as much as we do? Absolutely not. Big single family homes and perfect temp HVAC use are largely unsustainable. Do we need to live like that? Absolutely not. IMO, it's just humans, especially wealthier Western humans, being privileged and greedy. 90% of the world's population doesn't fly at all. The vast majority of the world's flying is done by wealthier Westerners, and we didn't start until the 70s. Human kind didn't end before the 70s because people didn't fly. Same can be said for cars. The world didn't end without cars. It's as a result of cars that we have to drive so much. They allowed us to live less densely, in suburbs, on average over 15 miles away from our jobs. Take away cars, and most people will live closer to work, or in dense residential districts where mass transit lines are setup to transport them efficiently to commercial districts. For those capable of working from home, they can live cheaply in a suburb. Hell, we could remove 20% of all commuting miles literally overnight by moving to a 4 day work week. We could remove another 20% of commuting miles by office workers by requiring every single one of them work from home once per week instead of going into the office. We could get rid of most business trips by using conference calls. If the bandwidth isn't good enough, then maybe companies can use some of the money they're saving on flights to get a better internet package.
