I live in the US and got a great trade-in offer to upgrade from the Z Flip 5 to the Flip 6. At first I regretted it, but after a week I’m glad I did. What’s better: more ram, better battery, almost no crease and much better cameras. What’s worse: I don’t like the colors of the camera lenses (wish they were still black) and don’t care for the sharp edges and no progress on making the cover display more useful without using Good Lock.

Why does EVERY tech reviewer make "should you upgrade" videos comparing the previous generation's phone when we should all know by now that 2 years is the MINIMUM in which anybody should even be CONSIDERING an upgrade (unless you're a tech enthusiast)? For instance, the Flip 6 is for current owners of the Flip 4 and older, not Flip 5 owners.

Me S5 flip user, considering trade in value and reselling value with the degedradition of the screen and hinge mechanisch of a year of extensive use. So yea guess im the specific target audience? But thats not really the point. Every tech reviewer just needs a topic to go on about to create content. Yearly should you upgrade video are always a good to go topic

I was not going to upgrade from the 5 to the 6... but Spectrum has a pretty killer deal right now with extra bonus cash... so I am getting $950 for my flip 5 trade in... plus adding a line so I get a line for free. So, for the next year, my cell bill will only be 30 bucks a month for 2 lines unlimited. Pretty stellar...

Last year they offered me about 450 to upgrade. I returned the flip 5. This year they offered me 490. They fixed the issues that I had from the 5 (battery, cameras, and it feels more durable). Perhaps it’s country specific but I’m not seeing a huge price increase like people are saying, especially in this economy. Sadly, a lot of people in the comments are parroting other tech KZbinrs and not doing the digging for themselves.

As i've said in many similar videos, i've got no problem with a hundred dollar increase as I feel the internal upgrades justify it. My gripe is the absolute kick in the nuts we got this time around on trade in values. I went ahead and did it anyway to have max trade in value for the flip seven, hoping they'll realize their mistake and bump the trade in values back up in 2025.

I would imagine it's because there really isn't "daily" news in the tech industry anymore. There's nothing new or exciting happening. There aren't enough players in the game anymore, every "new" device is merely a small iterative update from the previous year, and NOBODY innovates anymore, so rumors aren't even interesting either. So until a device actually drops, what's there to talk about?

💥💥I'm going to trade in my regular Samsung S23 for the 599$ Motorola razr. I was disappointed with Samsung's products this year. To me Samsung is getting kind of lazy over the last 2 years but the prices are going up. The fold 6 is basically the same as the fold 5. I was highly disappointed in the Samsung Galaxy watch ultra. No rotating bezels and you can't wireless charge the watch on your phone. This zflip 6 is clearly not worth the price they're asking for it. I'll still be in the Samsung ecosystem because I still have my Samsung S23 ultra. I also still have my OnePlus 9 5g. I just don't see the point in having two Samsung phones. The Samsung S23 basically has the same operating system as my S23 ultra. To me Motorola is doing it right. They have the high price Motorola razr plus, but they also got cheaper moto razr flip.

Totally agree .dont get me wrong im a samsung guy but that $100 decrease hurts. Meanwhile Motorola has the new razor plus 2024 for $999.99 same has zflip 5 from last yr. Might do a change & go for the motorola razor this yr.

The outer display on this 1,100 dollar samsung Z flip 6 is 60hz. The same as last year's z flip 5. Meanwhile, last year's Motorola Razr plus outter display was 144hz. This years razr plus outter display is 165hz. I even heard rumors that the OnePlus open 2 is supposed to have a 6,000mah battery in it. The Google Pixel fold is only going to get better. Xiaomi has a foldable flip phone coming out that looks really good. You have companies with foldable like the vivo x fold 3 pro and vivo fold 3 and vivo fold 2. The xiaomi mix fold 3. Nubia got a flip phone, and the nubia flip 5g for 479 to 889 dollars on the Wal-Mart website. Even blackview has a foldable flip phone called the hero on Amazon for 698 dollars. Eh, since the cameras aren't so good (and the lack of a telephoto) is the main reason I'll avoid flip smartphones for the time being. I'm still happy with my S20 FE, but I'm planning to upgrade next year. Maybe the S25 when it comes out.

The camera is a downfall for sure. But as a trade worker, im no longer looking at cracked screens or using burner phones constanly. Its not terrible, but its not that s24 ultra kinda gooood.

I wouldn't recommend getting either of these phones, multiple of my friends have had them and the center portion of the screen separated and it looked AWFUL. Plus one of my friend's phone's screen straight up snapped in the middle.

the concept phones are not made to achieve best sales or something, it's just for that new, unique experience when using it, people who want to spend 1200$ on a phone, should probably get this one than the regular iphone or samsung S series or pixel cuz flip and fold give such amazing, unique, premium feeling when using them

I love my flips, I have been a S model fanboy for years and had the chance to get a Flip 3 off FB marketplace for a great price and I jumped seeming a bit nostalgic of my older flips, specifically the Nextel 1860 w/chirp from when I was in the military many years ago. Samsung approved my trade-in last year towards the new 5, with student discounts I paid less than $400 and they even accepted my trade-in (which I was doubtful of) because it had a few dead pixels and general wear and tear. Long winded backstory, just to say I LOVE this phone but the design lends itself to delicacy and I agree with your opinion that buying it contributes significantly to e-waste. And it sucks, b/c I consider myself relatively environmentally conscious and try to convey this to my boys. But cool tech is hard to pass up on when it's one of the few joys offered to you in life.
