Very helpful. My outside screen/digitizer was acting funky after I dropped the phone but it looked perfectly fine and I wanted to have a look inside. That outer screen comes off extremely easy (easier than any phone I've repaired in the last few years). FYI, that's just the first step this gentleman does, you can see he has the outer display off in a couple of minutes, forget the rest if you have my problem. Maybe this will help others: as I suspected, it was just the connector that needed re-seating. Before shelling our $200-300 for a new outer digitizer (which is ridiculous once you see how simplistic it is), pull it off and double check the connector is properly pushed in. You don't need heat to get the thing off (I used one of those thin metal tools most repair kits comes with starting at the top middle where there's a little slot I'm guessing is meant for this - not starting at the corner like this video). I used a hair dryer after putting the digitizer back on to seal it back in (as always - be careful to only put a little heat in each area and press and move on). Hopefully you can preserve the adhesive like I did. Looks new now and works perfectly. Pretty happy.

More a total housing replacement than a screen replacement. Lot of unnecessary work and cost for what's damaged.

If the inner screen is damaged, you have to replace the whole housing. That's how Samsung intends it to be, and that's what is sent out to the repair shops. Full housings.
