Samsung have ordered all of there parts to be reduced is size and weight for the fold 5 because they want the fold thinner lighter and include the S-Pen. They tried this year but was not able to fit the S-Pen in there without making it thicker which they are not willing to do. So hopefully they can achieve that this year.

I've had the Fold 4 since launch day and love it. Yes, it's too bulky and heavy, absolutely. But once you use it and get use to it I could never go back to a non-foldable phone. It's amazing. You can run productivity apps and they are useful because of the big screen. The two main issues, 1) it's too bulky when folded, awkward in your pocket and 2) for all it's size they should have squeezed a storage slot for the pen. Other than that, the Fold 4 is amazing.

Agreed on the pen! I wish I still got it at launch and made use of that free S-Pen anyway, but hoping the F5 brings a built-in pen, hopefully not compromising on the design

Great review. I love my Fold 4 and there's nothing like a big screen. I broke down and traded the Fold 3 and haven't regretted it. That few mm difference on the front screen does stand out. Everything you've described are true. Apple keeps talking about their foldable future but hasn't done anything. Apple must be dissecting the Fold 4 to see what they can copy then put a patent on it and claim it's theirs!

I use a fold 1 and 2 (got them cheap secondhand). It is absolutely game changing to have a foldable phone. I speak as a corporate professional, not just a techie enthusiast: The price may make it look like a luxury toy, but I can honestly say that the form factor brings tremendous practical benefits: better holding ergonomics, sound and display quality, workstation (Dex) and readability for documents, PowerPoints, stock charts.... Absolutely critical as a professional. I daresay the future is definitely in foldables, just a matter of bringing the price down to low 1000$ and it's a tremendous value for the professional market.

I notice how people forget You can use the rare camera as a selfie camera using the front screen as a preview screen. SO YOU GET TO USE THE MAIN CAMERA 50 MEGAPIXELS AS YOUR SELFIE CAMERA!! Can't do that with an iPhone or any other camera. They seem to leave that test out out of all of the selfie comparisons.. if you can make a selfie with the back camera you need to count that as a selfie camera.

For almost 3 months using the z fold 4, i would say, it is super amazing. I also use it naked 😂. But I bought skin for £11. It feels very luxurious. As an IT dude who works sometimes outside and play games, this is so perfect. The dex mode, the big screen, the frontscreen which I really like, the sounds, etc. Only the battery wont last long as my IP14PM. But its good for 6-8 hours of use.

Im an iphone, ipad, airpods, and macbook users for 11 years. Been a week for me pondering if i should get this fold 4 but how it could fit in my apple ecosystem. Finally, sold my ipad last week! Bought this fold thing. And now for a week though, I feel great, andd the fold is much more useable in my case, due to its portability and convenience. For my usage, reading news, ePaper, pdfs, editing photos, analysing stocks, this thing is more useable🙂. I knw ipad is better for drawing and such, but im not an artistic type kindof guy, so for my personal use, it is perfect. Oh and regarding the ecosystem thing, I found a couple of useful tips for ios to android interconnectivity, first download SHAREIT, free apps for sharing cross platform. Secondly, open the icloud website from ur Fold, log in to ur Apple ID, and then put that iCloud shortcut logo onto your home screen on your fold, that way you can access your iCloud in just one quick from your home screen so that’s pretty much sold my concern about the interconnectivity (ios vs android)

Yes, if you use your Gmail account to sync your accounts then Google find my device will work. Samsung also have a Find my equivalent, using the Samsung Account.

I was hesitant to go the Fold route but for the most part I have to say its been my favourite phone so far. Unfortunately my one has been back to samsung twice already for for repairs with a faulty inner screen needing replacement and the odd glitch here and there. I've had my Zfold 4 for a few months know in the grey green and dont regret it its a awesome phone it does everything i need and it even made me get the $4.99 towards NFL+ so i got games everywhere with me and all the multitasking i need with my S Pen as i got a beefy case from armadillo case and it makes peace of mind on the protection if you want to go fold do it you wont regret buying this beast

Excellent review. I have the S22 Ultra and I love the fact that you use Samsung Dex and I am one of those people that use Dex on a daily basis for everything from entertainment to productivity. The Samsung Fold series is at a stage where I think it has matured enough and ironed-out the kinks for me to consider it and thanks to review, I might just upgrade to the Fold when I next upgrade... Putting a case on mine was what made me feel confident using it. It's too slippery and flimsy otherwise. I tried skins, (dbrand matte black but didn't like the feel much). So it's sitting in a ringke matte black and I'm slowly starting to transition from my iPhone 12 Pro Max as a trial with more confidence since I no longer feel like the the thing is so slippery and about to shatter on its first fall.

I was worried about the size, but it feels smaller in my pocket than my S21+. Great for travelling, multitasking, video and gaming, and still wireless charges! @@AlexGTech strangely enough it seems like nobody that I have showed the fold to really cares about it they kind of look at it for like two seconds and then they hand it back like oh yeah that’s cool ironically enough they all have iPhones so that’s not surprising I think they have been conditioned to expect so little out of a smart phone that they just think every smart phone is the same and should be the same. Strangely enough exactly like the original poster said the phone seems smaller and easier to handle when it’s folded and when it’s unfolded it’s like perfectly balanced and actually feels lighter than a regular phone it’s way easier to use than a regular phone is considering it’s not super tall and weird aspect. I think the perfect solution would be to make the phone just a little bit bigger maybe make it as big as the S 22 while it’s folded but also wider so it retains the 4 x 3 aspect ratio I think they should make an ultra version of this phone like an 8 inch or 8.5 inch version then it would truly be able to replace a tablet on the go. I would pay an extra 400 bucks for a bigger fold with better cameras and bigger powder display it would literally solve every issue in the folder if they came out with an ultra version

Great video Alex. I totally agree, the Fold 4 is hands down the best phone I have owned. There is nothing that Apple or any other that I have owned comes close to it. I love it! The same is true of the Tab S8 Ultra and the GW 5 Pro.

23 ultra versus fold 4 I've had good experience with the 21 ultra, with the Galaxy Note 9 for 4 years. AFTER OWNING THE GALAXY FOLD 4!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A SLAB PHONE.. they are so wrong about most people use the smaller display 80% of the time.. IT'S THE OPPOSITE FOR ME!! The unfolded display with the case is a perfect size to hold in your hand I can even put it in my pocket. They did their homework. I almost never close my phone maybe close it at a max five times a day.. and doesn't seem to slip out of my hand like the slab phones.. You realize the weight difference is only 20 g which is not a big difference at all.. in camera tests the Galaxy fold 4 in a lot of ways because of the better processing took a lot of better pictures, portrait mode was better, the only thing that wasn't better was obviously the zoom.. it constantly gave a slightly better pictures and video in every way than the 22 ultra.. The camera on the fold is more than good enough for anything in this day and age.. HIGHER PIXELS DON'T NECESSARILY MEAN BETTER PICTURES!! They mostly mean if you print something you can have a bigger picture with less pixels.. there are 12 megapixel professional portable dedicated cameras that would blow away the 22 ultra.. aperture size is a big one for low light. As for the crease I never see it I really don't. The only time you can see it is when you have a lot of reflection like outside if you can see reflections on any screen you obviously going to see the crease. You never notice it almost ever!! SCREEN IS SO BEAUTIFUL. I even love the bigger s pen. I now getting used to the big spen pen don't want to go back to a small one that my case holds, which I had for many years with the Note 9. When I go back to using the front screen the small one, and my girlfriend's 22 ultra it just seems so small now it feels awkward doesn't feel right. I JUST CAN'T EVER GO BACK LOL.. And by the way the picture difference even this guy shows is very small indeed.. if there wasn't a side-by-side you could not tell the difference in videos or pictures!! OH AND IF YOU LIKE VIDEO GAMES, VIDEO STUFF, AND MOVIES THERE'S NO COMPARISON!! EXPERIENCE WITH THE BIGGER SCREEN BETWEEN THE TWO IS NOT EVEN CLOSE!! When you get used to this big screen you just don't want to go back!! Seriously!! AND HAVE WE TALKED ABOUT HOW YOU CAN TAKE SELFIES WITH THE 50 MEGAPIXEL CAMERA PREVIEWING YOUR SELFIE ON THE SMALL SCREEN ON THE FRONT!! SO IT TAKES 50 MEGAPIXEL SELFIES!!! Can't do that with any ultra in that type of resolution and quality!! Furthermore THE MICROPHONE, SPEAKERS IN AUDIO QUALITY ARE BETTER ON THE FOLD 4!! For complete entertainment, multitasking, television, social media, GAMING EXPERIENCE, AND MORE THE FOLD 4 WINS!!

@@AlexGTech I don't think they will make it bigger there trying to make them smaller, I can't see them doing anything but messing it up if they add the pen to it just have it as a spare thing on your case. If you want spen they should stick to putting it in the S or even bring back the Note series

@Liam Featherstone They did that with the S22 ultra. The "spiritual successor" to the Note series. The S line and Note lines were becoming similar in each product cycle. As slim as the S-pen is for the note and ultra series, it's only s matter of time before they add the pen to the fold series.

I use mine without a case as well. The whitestone dome has a camera protector included that don't have glass over your lenses. I love these types because there's no extra glass to affect camera quality. And when the phone is rested on it's back it's not resting on your camera lenses

Hi there, great question! I haven’t measured it, but it feels like the S 22 ultra is actually slightly bigger. Of course you can use the entire screen of the fold without the black bars, but that will crop the image. Without the crop, it feels the same or a tiny bit smaller than the S22 Ultra

I like most of Fold 4, except the battery life. I have to charge 2-3 times a day. I’m not a gamer. I used mostly for work and have used it for almost 3 months until I couldn’t tolerate the battery life and had to switch to iPhone 14 Pro Max. I missed the multitasking on Fold 4 but I wish the next gen battery is much better.

Great device! My only concern is about durability, there are still users with faulty devices. I myself have a fold 3 that gave up after a year and a half, it's now being repaired at Samsung, and it will apparently take 2 months to have it fixed, the screen is not in stock, so I'm back for now to my old trusty S10+, still going strong after 3 years, I assume there is still work to be done to have foldable devices lasting for years without any issues (Mom is still using his iPhone 6S, and my younger brother a Samsung J2 Prime)

I agree Wilson, this is not the finished article I don't think but it feels refined enough to be taken seriously. I guess time will tell, but so far it feels as sturdy to me as it did out of the box and with no scratches or screen issues (I am aware some people have not had the same luck)

My fold also felt sturdy as the first day (specially the hinge) What is funny is that the outer screen died, not the inside one, they showed me the flex cable tore and since it was fixed to the inner display board the only way to fix it was to have the whole inner screen replaced (they will use the same outer screen)

I personally love fold 4. I never got to use it, nor am trying to get it, but just from reviews, I just love what it has to offer. But I have concept of using my current mobile for 2 more years. I don't think spending money on phones every year is worth it, since am rocking sd888 phone. May be 2 years from now, when I can save enough, foldable will be my next device. Too all that who can't buy it now, don't stress and spend money on it. Save up, Christmas comes every year, so gift yourself one when you can afford ;)

I have mine in a Supcase case and it provides better grip and a screen protector included. I think the phone is to slippery without a case and I prefer to keep my phone safe and secure. I definitely recommend the Supcase military tested phone cases.

The biggest issue i find is image scaling, Samsung needs to optimise that. Videos will alot of space on both sides, if you zoom in all the way unless its 4k not worth it also if it doesn't have everything in centre

Yes, one one hand I love the size of the display and how games work on it. On the other, I appreciate the S22 Ultra for example when watching content in that aspect ratio (without bars)

I love my fold 4 it is my 3rd fold! And I too prefer using the phone naked but I do have a minimalist see-through case but I dropped my phone at work and it wasn't good so make sure you are extra careful! Keep up the good work!

Such a great phone right?! Yeah, I am pretty clumsy myself so if I take it on longer trips like to public transport and lots of walking outside, then I will put a case on. But in my studio and at home, it;s pretty safe and always on soft surfaces.

I just traded mine in for the pixel 7 pro. Too many apps that need to be closed completely before reopening when switching between screens. and video is constantly the wrong aspect ratio and gets cut off instead of black bars being added. the phone was completely unusable. Discord was probably the worse offender that being said KZbin being a native google application has no excuse as to the videos not being able to adjust to the screen sizes correctly.

oh no what a shame! The apps I use are mostly OK. As I mentioned in the video I do agree, a lot of apps are not using the display or the foldable aspect at all. It will take time but I think developers will eventually start doing more to utilise the screens properly and make use of the foldable aspect.

I am not sure if I fully agree with the review fully. I mean yes, the hardware is quite impressive. However, the software is still buggy (you will notice it more when switching from iOS), most of of the productivity software I use, Teams, Outlook etc has some very strange behaviour especially switching between close and open transition. As for the bigger form factors, I find my self using the front screen more and I feel compromised; so when I go back to my iPhone 10XR, I feel a sense of freedom. As for media consumption and gaming, the open form factor is strange, you end up with a large crease or major portion of the video cutoff. As for games, I am not major gamer, but like to play simple games for fun, most of it I have tried gets skewed or cut off on from screen or goes out of proportion when you open up - try Stickman Archer, Darts of Fury etc.. You will see what I am talking about. Camera is the only positive and selfies with multi screen mode is the most valued feature. Now I do not use Dex, but then again, this is a phone, I want it to work like a phone and be useful like a phone, so I do not see Dex as of much value. Finally will I switch - No.. coz I invested nearly 2K USD into it. So I would use it and at best love it and hate it at the same time. To those who are looking to switch to this, get a feel for it somehow before you decide.

@@MajSiddiqui Honestly, its a tough question as I like the attention it brings. People are amazed to see a folding phone, there are many people world over who does not know it exists, so they look at it like magic. I wouldn’t exchange it for iPhone 14 pro as the floating island bugs me a lot. From a practicality point of view, I would go back to 13 pro, though then I need to admit to my wife she was right and I was wrong :). In short, Yes, I would mostly with iPhone 15 or if fold Z 4 software gets worse, iPhone 13 Pro.

I do love it for gaming but I agree for watching content, those bars (or cropped) feel weird. I think Samsung tried to make a fun phone that is great to use as a productive tablet. I think they nailed it but I appreciate not everyone will care about some of the productivity aspects. and yes, the price needs to come down for it to be more viable to more people

Any case makes it feel bulky so I just make my own vinyl skins using cricut machine to give it at least some protection

This Phone weights a ton.. Try putting it in your pocket.. and you will understand what I mean.. at 270gms it's a two hand device at all times.. Try taking calls ...and your hand will get tired. I shifted from Iphone 13 and returned it within a week ..cos of the sheer weight and size
