A great video as always. I am using Z Fold for 3 years now and I would take it anytime over any other book-style Foldable. What I don't like: - Z Fold's inner screen is too reflective, and it dims also quickly depending on the outside temperature. - The S Pen does not work with the cover screen. So often I tried to write something on the cover screen and just was wondering why it didn’t work. It does not feel consistent. - I would love to see a 5x zoom. But what I like outweighs all other Foldables and phones in general: - The aspect ratio: yes, it is thicker, but it has the smaller overall footprint, and this is something I learnt to appreciate. I don't want a bigger phone and all these competitors (with exception of Pixel Fold) are bigger and less pocketable. All others make the phones thinner at the cost of getting it bigger. We should always look at the overall footprint and not at one aspect (being thinner) only. - The aspect ratio: I like the more tablet-like inner scree, especially combined with the Flex Mode. You just change the orientation based on the number of open windows and on the apps. - The S Pen is just unbeatable. The Bluetooth functionality would be nice to have. If I needed it I just would buy the S Pen Pro. But the Galaxy Watch gives me the most relevant remote control features anyway, even without the S Pen Pro. - Flex Mode: the support for the Flex mode is just underrated. It works with almost all Apps. And it has special support for all the relevant streaming apps. Others don’t have it. - The hinge: it makes the Flex mode possible. The hinge of V2 just restricts the possibilities of using the phone as a tripod which is already one of the very few Flex mode supported functions of V2. - The hinge: it makes the inner screen of Z Fold more durable. The Magic V2 has been tested for 400000 folds, but those tests are a joke. In real life the phone snaps automatically either completely open or completely close, applying a special force to the inner screen and the hinge. But the tests are done with robots which open and close the hinge without snapping. - The software experience: I just don’t think it is worth the time to mention all those reasons why the One UI for Foldable is just better. - IP68 rating - The DeX: just a must have. One remark regarding the missing LTPO in the Z Fold’s cover screen: this is nothing that a user experiences directly, only indirectly through the battery runtime, and based on your tests the difference is just marginal. I really hope Samsung would keep the aspect ratio and just make the bezels of the cover screen thinner.

Great input. To add a little more context on footprint and size, the Z Fold 5 is not only thicker but also taller than the V2. The width is the only area that’s larger than the Z Fold but when compared to the Pixel Fold which you referenced the Pixel Fold is noticeably wider.
@arvandvarahram8 ай бұрын
@@OT4TechThank you forr the response. But are you sure that Z Fold 5 is taller? The official height of Z Fold 5 is 154,9 mm, that of V2 is 156,7 mm.
@OT4Tech8 ай бұрын
You are correct, I'm not sure why a reputable website had it listed at 158mm. Even so you're really pulling hairs here when it's less than a 2mm difference. Theres no way anyone can feel that in their pocket. I just placed them side by side and it's nearly identical to the eye.

@@OT4Techyou are right. The difference in the height is not relevant, but that difference in the width makes such a huge difference when putting it into the pockets of your trousers, to me at least.

Good review! This is what I was looking for. I thought the Z Fold 5 battery life would be worse but it's clear in this review.

its worse . I have it and surely its not 12 hours . Maybe 4-5 unfolded.

Both brilliant phones, but I suspect if it breaks you’ll have an easier time getting the samsung fixed, also longevity and resale values probably go in Samsungs favour

Hopefully, by the time the Z Fold 10 is released, Samsung will have listened to and read reviews regarding what customers think of their folding and flip screen handsets (from a premium priced product stance). If they can incorporate a mind-blowing camera set up in the s21 thru 24 Ultra models, why not the Z ? Top job Jonathan 👏 🇬🇧

Honor does offer a desktop mode it's called magic desktop.

The fold still has inner screen pixel dying and it’s not working after a month or less. To me that’s disappointing because I really want a foldable.

It’s definitely personal preference. I don’t find them to be horrible by any means. I will say, during the day in bright lighting is where it performs best (like most phones) but as the sun goes down that magenta shift is really bad. I wouldn’t recommend using it in medium to low light especially on skin tones. I know this can be improved via software I just don’t know if that’s a main focus for them. Hopefully, the Android 14 update is a big one for them because the design of the phone is so good it’s sad to see the software holding it back.
