In the UK, it costs £1250 ($1500) to upgrade from the Fold5 to Fold6 with a Samsung trade-in. So, common sense says that the improvements aren't close to £1250; therefore, for the average person, there is no sane upgrade route here in regions outside the US (£550 trade-in for Fold5). I went with the Honor Magic V2 after my Fold4 started to creak. That cost £1200 (Fold6 is £1800). I got free: £350 headphones, a case, insurance, a screen protector (front) and a fast charger. Also, the base V2 had 512GB/16GB! I love the wider front display, which was my biggest issue with the Fold4. I pay a lot for two great displays, not to be forced to open up to the inner display. I get that the Fold6 has three years more support, but I will only keep my V2 up to 4 years anyway. I'm not bothered about the software as I use the inner display solely as a bigger display for my poor eyes. And do not ask about AI; that is the biggest marketing con I have seen for years (so far). The Fold6 is yet another easy pass for me, but it is not a shocker that Samsung Fold fans will love it even though the competition is as good or better and much cheaper in my region.

I'm coming from a Z Fold 4 to the S23U and back to th Z Fold 6. I agree with your sentiments. On paper it doesn't seem like a big improvement but in hand, it's a huge improvement. I use the outside screen 99% when I'm outside but when I'm home, I love using the bigger screen. I am also on the fence about using a case. I think I'll just use a back case and possibly a Oh Snap 4 Luxe. I've also been using the light profile instead of standard. I haven't had th phone for long but I do think my battery life is decent. I'm getting about 7-8 hours.

What made you go back to the Fold, after the S23 Ultra?

@@Super-c00n My S23U Ultra stoped fast charging and it definitely felt sluggish. I don't know why but it started happening around 250 charge cycles (this was measured through AccuBattery so take it with a grain of salt).

Don't want to use a case either, but the device needs one. A drop on the hinge is not worth the risk.
