I bought the NE63B8611SG range and i have the emporia electricity monitoring system in my house, which monitors power use at the breakers. It says that the stove uses 1.2amps continuously even when off. This is a lot of power! This equates to $31.5 per month or $378 dollars a year @0.15 $/kwh doing nothing. While i do like the stove its a lot to pay when not in use and its only powering thr clock and wifi. Turning off wifi didnt change much. Im trying to determine if this is typical or my stove is defective.

Really it's drawing an amp just to have the clock face turned on? Wonder what my old electric ranger drew when it was off? That's interesting.
@Jeremyschannel1
@Jeremyschannel1 Жыл бұрын
Hmm a Google search suggests that so e of those power monitoring systems might not be super accurate at low draw levels, esp on 220. This forum suggests that you switch off all the breakers except the oven and go watch for your meter to spin instead of trusting the monitoring devices: forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1885411

@@Jeremyschannel1 I was skeptical as well so I used a clamp on handheld current meter at the back of the stove. It was accurate. I have s8nce removed the back of the stove and traced the draw to the cook top. The are 4 large gauge wires with each pair drawing 0.6 amps
@Jeremyschannel1

@@mtbphil168 I still think you should turn off your breakers and watch your meter spin. The clamp on current meters are mentioned in that link I sent as also being inaccurate at low draw.

glass top will smug. will never get that bad but something to live with. there is a way to keep fingerprints off of it. it will always be easy to clean. it can be a good idea to not degrease the top and keep a even coat of oil and fingerprint wont form. dont worry about scratching it. its supposed to be used and you can always polish it too.

We bought a pricy model, about $2,000, at Costco in July. It worked really well in the first 2+ months. Then one day, I heard a loud pop while heating water in a pot. Something on the control board broke. We tried to contact Samsung for repair just right upon the 3-month warranty. Then we talked to Costco about the possibility of exchange or other options. It's been over 1 month and the range hasn't been fully repaired yet. A sad Thanksgiving without a functioning induction range. PS. A technician came and changed the control board and the power distribution board (?) more than a week ago, but he failed to recover the range due to a missing screw for the burner connection. Six weeks passed and we are still waiting for repair.

That's a shame. I did hear that in some areas Samsung appliances are difficult to get serviced. I had no way to know whether that's true here in central Pennsylvania so just went with it and hoped I didn't end up with a lemon. Hope you get yours fixed, esp since it's the higher end model. Where are you located, out of curiosity? (Roughly - we don't need your address!)

@@markolo25 yea there still really aren't many available! Especially in this price range. I really do like the Samsung, though at times I'm envious of those larger cooktops with the flex zone. If I had more money I might have upgraded to a 36" induction cooktop with flex zone plus a wall oven. But had to go with the budget option and I. Really happy with it so far.

Hi I just uploaded a brief video explaining hot to use it. Something that I'm not sure I made clear is that on induction the cooktop itself doesn't get hot. Only your pan will get hot. And then only if it's induction compatible.

Is it one of the ranges that are under a recall for the switch knobs? Looks just like the regular range I have that is under the recall. Their fix is putting ugly knob covers over them. It also has the quietest timer speaker I’ve ever had,and no volume control.
@Jeremyschannel1
@Jeremyschannel1 2 ай бұрын
I'm not honestly sure, might be. The knobs are pretty easy to turn, which I believe was the issue. I'm not worried about it with induction since the burners don't get hot without a pan in them. And even then they'll never be red hot like a standard radiant electric range. I honestly never use the timer as I have a smart speaker in the kitchen - I just use it. But you're right I do think most of the sounds it makes are pretty quiet and sing-songy.

Thank you Jeremy! I have a question: How well does this non-convection oven cook roasts? I've never used the convection fan on my gas stove(which I will get rid of) because of fan noise, yet my roasts always turn out well. I mean, do you wish you had the next better model(convection), or does the oven you now have perform well enough that you're happy with it?

Yea it does just fine, I have no complaints about the oven. Honestly it performs better than my old range oven. Probably because it's better insulated? I've never used a convection oven though so keep that in mind. Well.. except for my countertops ninja air fryer/toaster oven combo.

Induction is so much better than electric or gas! Congrats! Don't slide an iron skillet on the cooktop. You did that in this video - that could cause scratches!
@Jeremyschannel1
@Jeremyschannel1 Жыл бұрын
I've heard that also. But my cast iron is very smooth on the bottom, and tbh I'm not sure I really believe it's going to be a problem. I saw someone on KZbin demonstrate grinding a cast iron skillet in a glass top, and he showed that the apparent scratches were actually just some of the seasoning wearing off the bottom of the pan, cleaned right up with cleaner. I won't worry about it for now and update my channel in a while (6 months or a year?) to report on any scratches. Cast iron is softer than glass for sure, but I guess if some hard grit like sand gets on the top, the weight of the skillet could cause it to scratch?

Use enameled cast Iron to prevent scratching the glass surface. Some induction surfaces have the option to be white which will not show hand prints like the black does. Also, you can remove the black glass and have a custom glass surface made from a glazer.

I've seen the silicone mats. But I know that I regularly take my cookware over the 450 to 500 degrees that the silicone mats can take. I got an infrared thermometer just because I was curious. Any time I sear any meats or make tortillas I'd have to remove the mat or risk melting it.

@Jeremyschannel1
@Jeremyschannel1 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if it's related to how the cookware was made. My stainless stuff is definitely budget cookware. But I've heard from others that any laminated bottom pans can make a bit of noise. It's worse at high heat settings while the pan is still heating up. I find that once the pan has come to temperature the noise is less.
@amordebelleza4770
@amordebelleza4770 Жыл бұрын
It does. Its not necessarily vecause its cheap but because the magnets arent good enough or big enough. Make sure you check your magnet size and metal types before buying pans. If you notice that noise it means you need other pans that are more compatible. You will also notice with the noisy pans you are not getting the full cooking power of the stove because electeicity isnt being cunducted as it should.

@Jeremyschannel1
@Jeremyschannel1 Жыл бұрын
What do you mean by "set up correctly?" There's no setup, just put an induction compatible pan on and turn it on. When there's no pan it gives you a little icon where it usually shows the power level (1 through 9). The icon looks like a pot over a burner, it's kind of neat. I can post a quick reel about it later. Then eventually it'll just turn off the burner and give you a " - " if I'm remembering correctly.

Not this model! They have one that does but it's much more expensive. Like $2500 instead of $1k if I'm remembering correctly. Instead I bought a ninja air fryer/toaster oven combo for $150 from Amazon. I've heard that the oven based air fry setups tend not to work that well anyway.
@PossessedbyPhoenix

They have a midrange one currently selling for $1500 that has the air fry/convection oven. The $2200+ one has mostly some luxury bells and whistles like more streamlined touch screen interface, a "smart dial" for control, blue knob lightups, and blue light to simulate flames when turned on. Also each step up has more max wattage.

@@PossessedbyPhoenix oh I didn't know about the max wattage increase! That'd occasionally come in handy. I assume that's the cooktop wattage? I still don't know if I'd want to pay an extra $500 for the next step up.

@Jeremyschannel1
@Jeremyschannel1 8 ай бұрын
I honestly rarely use the oven and the stovetop at the same time, but I could see that happening. One gripe I have developed with the stovetop is that if the glass top itself gets too hot the burners will turn their heat down to low. It's only ever an issue for me when I'm making something like corn tortillas from scratch, where you want high heat for an extended period of time. But if you have the oven on high heat and also have a hot pan on the cooktop I could see how it might turn itself to low quicker.
