The part shown in the video can be ordered here: amzn.to/2UeeiAe After feedback from 10's of thousands of views and many comments, we'd like to add: 1) Our initial fix as shown in the video and detailed in the article linked above lasted for YEARS. 2) When we ran into the issue again years later, the first thing I checked are the drain tubes at the back of the fridge. Several commenters here have reported those tubes at the bottom back of the fridge (you'll have to roll your fridge out), can get clogged and cause the same issue. I checked ours and they were clear. 3) I then adjusted the fridge temp 2 degrees warmer and after about a week, we were back to normal and no longer having issues with water in the crisper drawers again.

I used the new Samsung part you showed, and it only worked for a few weeks, then same problem nonstop. I've checked the two drain lines in the back and they are clear. I've seen where someone else just attached a long, bare copper wire several inches down into the hole and it worked for years with no issues. Any idea why you think yours worked for so long, and then didn't??

I'm retired and just didn't want to hassle with it, but after 4 different "experts" came out and quoted everything from a faulty sensor to replace the coils for $500+, I finally did it myself. For $6 for 2 clips from Amazon and an hour of my time, I completed this minor task. All is back to normal. Thank you for posting this video.

Thank you for the video. We were about to throw out our 4 year old fridge and spend 1700$ to replace it because the water was filling the drawers and leaking on the floor. $22 for the part and about 45 minutes to fix and we are in business. Amazing. My only suggestion is to remove the cover in the rear to expose the evaporator pan so you can see that is totally defrosted and the water is running all the way through. Again thank you so much

Thanks for your video. My french door fridge is now 12 years old, I contacted samsung a couple of times when this started and they said that they haven't had any reports of this problem. After about 4 years my crisper drawers have not been used. I empty them of water probably 4 times a year. Today (Sept 19 2021) I noticed that the right hand door wouldn't close tightly. After taking a very close look at it I noticed the door storage compartment was hitting the center shelf. I removed the shelf, then saw that the back panel was being pushed out by the ice backing up above the drain forcing out the shelf. I'm surprised that samsung haven't issued a bulletin regarding this problem. I guess I should have kept asking. I will order this part hoping it fixes the issue. Now that I know why my door wasn't closing, it explains the cracking and banging its been doing the last few months. Even appliances complain when things aren't working right.

After years of putting up with soggy drawers ;-) - and no luck finding a reputable repair person in my area (although I did get scammed by a disreputable one!) - I came across this video. I bought the part that day, and this past weekend did the repair. 48 hours later the fridge is still dry inside, I'm SO HAPPY!! Definitely the hardest part was emptying everything out; I chose to let the fridge warm up before removing the panel, not wanting to damage anything and we lived out of coolers for a couple days. Bonus: this is the first time every component of the interior has been fully washed, since I bought it 8/9 years ago... Thanks for the great video ♥️

Thank you for this video!! A few months back we noticed lots of water building up in both crisper trays and underneath. We searched for DIY video and learned about the ice build up. We turned up the temp on our fridge and freezer a few degrees and that actually helped quite a bit! Today I finally got around to completely defrosting per this videos instructions and clearing out the ice but WITH THE TEMP ADJUSTED, hopefully will avoid this problem all together going forward. We’ve had this fridge for over 10yrs and hope to get several more out of it. Thanks!

Good video! I was able to complete my repair by following it. The only thing I would add is to make sure you pull the fridge out and vacuum dust off the condenser coils underneath. You will also be able to see the evaporation pan that the condensate drips into. Having someone pour a little water into the drain hole will tell you the drain line is completely clear of ice.

Thank you so much for doing this video and saving my fridge. The repair took me a total of 2 hours and I didn’t have to unplug the fridge and I left the freezer full. I think the difference is that I was using a long flexible plastic tube I got off my kegerator to suck the water out, then replacing it with boiling water every 5 minutes. The tube was also strong enough that physically jamming it in there broke the ice up a bit and I think that’s why I was able to get it done so much faster than some of the other people who have tried it
@rickjs1956

UPDATE: Installed the updated part yesterday (from Amazon) Getting that old clip off is a bit of a hassle, I used a needle nose plier to wiggle an edge back and forth until it tore. Suggestion - I put a corner of a plastic grocery bag under the old piece to catch any metal scraps that broke off so they wouldn't fall into the drain. Also, even with a dryer and fan pointing inside, and pouring in hot water, the actual drain took about 5 hours to thaw .... so put your food in another fridge if you have one, or for sure an ice chest .. Wow!... excellent detail. And you are the first one that I watched that actually showed the replacement part number... Just ordered, and my next project asap when it arrived!

So had a service guy come out twice, & changed the Twin Cooling system panel 2x. Never addressed the problem you are showing us. Figuring they must have corrected it by now. But no. As of 5/2019 still having a small leak. This is unbelievable that consumers have to go through this! We are under a warranty company...so calling the guy to come back again. I just found out from watching another video that there is a defrost mode. I am in the process of doing it right now. Below is the post: "Hold the power freeze and fridge buttons for 8 seconds, use the fridge button to navigate to power defrost - on mine, it’s denoted as rd (for refrigerator defrost, I believe). This will turn the cooling-off and heat the coils for 20 minutes before going back to normal. It will beep while it’s in this mode, so don’t worry about that. I did this last night and this morning the fridge is quiet as a kitten"

Use a turkey injector and you can thaw the tube in less than 60 seconds. You need to be gentle because the drain tube is plastic and our injector has a metal tip. Suck up the hot water into the injector, then expel it and suck it back in, repeat. I changed the water after about 3 cycles. I just microwaved about 2/3 a cup of water. Great video which helped me quickly find the part and fix the problem in about 1.5 hours for $10. Note that hot water wouldn't go through the drain hole so I had to remote the lower back panel to check the fridge drain tube located in the right corner to find-out that it was clogged with slime. Just FYI - I was completely unable to cut the old metal tab off using a standard wire cutter as shown in this video. I tried everything from Channelock cable cutters to Hakko flush cutters, all to no avail. I finally resorted to using a pair of miniature bolt cutters, which worked like a charm. Only the bolt cutters were able to bite into the metal tab at a high enough point (i.e. around the rivet) without putting too much stress on the heating element.

I am not going to rehash the details provided in the other reviews and in several very helpful you-tube videos. I did have a simple fix which did solve the problem in my case. When I removed the evap cover I was pleasantly surprised to find no icing. I went ahead and replaced the drainage tubes and the evap drain clip. Samsung A/S Assembly-Water Leakage N DA82-01415A has all the parts for less than $25.00 from Amazon. The plate behind the evap coil did not want to come off easily so I left it on rather than risk breaking something. Since icing was not my problem I wasn't too concerned about the insulating strips. What I did find was corrosion on the steel back of the evap cover. The cover has a flange on the bottom that directs condensation into the condensation drain. The flange had corroded to the point that condensation was leaking down the back of the refrig and into the compartment. That explained the rusty stains on the back of the refrig compartment. I cleaned the plate as best I could and dried it thoroughly with a hair dryer. Then I covered the corroded area with self adhesive aluminum tape, making sure to remake the flange. Be sure to press the tape down thoroughly. I did this 2 weeks ago and checked for moisture today. To my great relief the compartment is bone dry. Hope this helps.

I found that I had a similar problem but the issue was the channel at the back not collecting water properly. Water was running down from the back left and right wall sections and not into the channel where the water should drain. The channel directing water from the back left and right side down into the hole at the left and right edges wasn't deep enough so the water would just pour up and over the lip. I added a self adhesive rubber tube that seemed to work and I also did the fix as mentioned above with the same part just to be sure that problem didn't happen either.

@@jamesblanchard9771 The fridge is in my tenant's suite but after doing what I did, there haven't been any complaints with the same issue on the fridge for 2 months. Poor design on that whole back panel. I suspect that many people are having the issue that I had and the drain clip won't solve the issue. For an extra bead of silicone and a rubber D channel, it seemed to work for me.

Hi Paul. I can't say we'd recommend ever shutting off the power regularly to the fridge just in terms of food safety. If the temps in your fridge and freezer fluctuate up, your food quality / safety is at risk. I'd suggest you fix or have a pro fix your fridge (permanently) rather than a workaround. Good luck!

Great video and thanks for this helpful info! I have made the modification to my refrigerator as I was getting quite a substantial amount of water accumulating on the base where the food draws are located. It seems to have helped quite a bit and I have even replaced the drain tubes in the rear of the fridge for good measure, as recommended by someone in another video. However, I am still getting a little bit of water accumulating more so on the left side of where the large food draws reside - any ideas what may still be causing this? I was able to test and make sure that the water drained correctly per your video, but not sure why I am still getting water and truly at a loss here as I have done everything that that has been suggested. I did notice behind the front cover that there were some areas that were a little damagaed and possibly not sealing as well as it once was - could this be the issue? Thanks in advance...

Great video. I just started having this problem a few days ago after 5 years of owning my Samsung. One thing I have is discovered is that it stops dripping when I take the Crisper drawer out and leave it out. I was trying to discover where the water was actually coming from. This tells me that with better air circulation I'm not getting the same freeze up. Does this make sense?

This will be the second time in less than six months I have had to do this repair. I think part of the problem, aside from the inadequate heat sink fin, is overloading the fridge. Since the COVID19 pandemic, I have been trying to buy enough food to last for more than a few days in order to curtail frequent trips to the grocery store. I think this prevents adequate airflow in the refrigerator part of the unit. I don’t think I can replace the fin as it sits well down into the drain hole and the heat coil it attaches to is bent into much more of a “V” than you show in your’s and is immovable. I’m going try to pay closer attention to how much I put in it to see if better air flow curtails this from happening so frequently. While it’s a fairly easy fix, it’s kind of a pain in the ass. I stopped using the veggie bins and waited until the fridge was mostly empty before doing the repair AGAIN. This video is a Godsend. Thank you so much. BTW, be very careful if using a hair dryer. It has distorted the plastic on the back wall and melted the styrofoam a little on the inside of the panel.
