Thanks for the video. My son and I were able to complete this in about 20 minutes. Once we heated the edges up with a hair dryer, the back was easy to remove. We used adhesive remover and alcohol to remove the battery. That was the trickiest part.
@nathanpk48225 жыл бұрын
If anyone is following this, be careful while removing the battery. On the video they damaged the screen while removing they just never showed it turned on. Heating up the adhesive to warm to touch is a much easier way to remove it than alcohol. Just make sure not to over heat the area battery
@nathanpk48225 жыл бұрын
James @2:37 when they take out the battery, there’s that little copper color. They broke threw the first layer of the screen. Which isn’t deep enough to damage the LCD but will bring issue to the the touch on the phone. And you’re right alcohol won’t damage the phone. But what I was saying is, heating up the adhesive instead of putting alcohol on it is a much easier way of taking it out

That.s not true. You need to use alcohol IPA ->90% and up. Instead of prying it and risking that u will damage LCD(under battery there is a "window" in metal frame where u can easily poke LCD) you should use suction cup. Apply force to suction cup and keep hold it till you will feel that adhesive give up.

Just used your kit with tools to to fix a swollen s10+ battery - it was pushing the screen up as well as the back apart,, worked pretty well, 4 observations::: - 1. Showing how to use the included glue strips in this video would help give a better idea of how to do it.. 2 Yes those screws are microscopic, a 1" super magnet helped in finding one that went flying and for getting some of them out of their flanges in the phone. 3. The suction cup would not fasten at all on the back of the s10+, not sure why., 4. The iOpener worked quite - just be patient..Overall well done and a very nice kit. btw - glad I bought it - and it got here in 2 days !!!.. There is no 91% isopropyl alcohol in the kit - so be sure you have some on hand. My battery was loose enough - i just gently pried it up.. so not an issue for me.
@acarus33 жыл бұрын
What they fail to tell you is the back cover is glass. It needs a lot of heat to get the glue slightly soft, there is no gap to jam a pick in so takes a lot of force. Once the cover did start coming up the glass shattered and a shard when through my finger and out the other side....
@acarus33 жыл бұрын
@qwrt hialname Repalced the back glass. Here is a good tip, don't use picks, cut a square of plastic out of a soft drink bottle and use that. It is much more flexible and thin so cut cut the glue without bending and cracking the glass.

The mat is a great idea, but I use a method that is, in my opinion, better. I have a bunch of cardstock sheets (particularly I use the backing cards for vintage comic book sleeves) and use doblesided tape to hold screws on there and I also write down notes as to where certain parts go, in which order, etc, etc. I think the tape is better than magnets because magnetic mats are never very strong and so if you bump the mat too hard all the screws go flying. The tape holds them in place very securely.

Between these 2 videos, I've decided to go to a Samsung Services location in my area and pay to have it done by people prepared to stand behind the parts and repairs. It is more expensive than a DIY but I can come home knowing that it will be done right and with the Samsung approved parts.

The iFixit tool kit is a bit expensive, but since the Samsung phones are expensive and the company does not fix bloated batteries after the warranty period, think about the money you will save by not paying a shop to replace the battery.
